Sorry, Stevie, only people I know who buy Eminem are confused white kids from the suburbs who don't know what real rap is. Black people are smarter than that. Fuck you, racist!

Sorry, Stevie, only people I know who buy Eminem are confused white kids from the suburbs who don't know what real rap is. Black people are smarter than that. True in most respects, but you sound limited to whom you know. I'm almost positive that if you researched popular music trends (Rap in question) in relation to economic habitats and race habitats, you would find a stronger comparision to what you orignally assumed. Urban ghettos, suburbanites, and rural bastards are all aware of the numerous artists and various styles of music existing today. Unfortunately, the majority of music the average individual listens to is the commerical music. Whether it be rap (LL Cool J), jazz (Miles Davis), blues (Buddy Guy), rock (Aerosmith), surf (Dick Dale), reggae (Bob Marley), metal (Metallica), alternative (Green day), etc... So in conclusion, I strongly believe that both the, "confused white kids" from the suburbs and the "smarter" black kids listen to the same music generally in respect to commercial rap, ie; TuPac, R Kelly, Ememim, WuTang, Beastie Boys, Jay Z, etc... By the way, black people have been known to live in the suburbs too... just in case you were ignorant to the fact.

If u know anything about hip hop and battletested MC's u would know what i am talking about...sure he garnered crossover success and I will agree White folks are more tolerant to his ranting and raving then most black hip hop artists who are equally as as controversial...I just don't see how half of ya'll are going to judge him on hip hop merits when all most of you do is post threads about who is better Madonna or Janet???? I figure it like this he's is comedic in a sense the mafucka pop shit about everybody...now we want to be on some sensitive oh it's Micheal shit...PUHLEASE!!!!!

IMHO I believe Em, talented as he may or may not be, is simply a school yard bully that enjoys kicking someone when they are down. It's simple like that. He shows that he does not appreciate being mocked himself by any other artist (Weird Al) and defends himself like a bully who needs a good beating or defeat. I don't know much about Weird Al's marketed audience, but would I be wrong to assume that it is the same younger generation that listens to this commercial rap and pop?

I agree with the last statement. I love Stevie too but he is pretty much in the same geezer status as Steely Dan, with all proper respect given. Eminem has taken over. I love the fact that people get bothered by that. I love the fact that the best selling rapper is white, and also happens to be talented. How funny is that? When people bitch and moan, it just shows how racist this country is, black and white, divided we stand. United States of Division. Let's hear more racist comments.....c'mon.....you know you can't hold it in.....

That would be touchy grounds. I don't know too many adults who would make fun of or parody any handicapped individual, whether it be Stevie or your neighbor. Is it not a moral question? Pedophiles, terrorists, relatives, politicians, pee wee herman are okay though, although immature.

How dare you refer to Stevie as a "geezer"! He has recorded albums and songs that can rightfully be called "classics".His music will live on forever. How many of Eminem's songs are "classics"? Eminem specializes in shock tactics. It's controversial and it gets people talking, but that's all it does.Stevie is a real musician, composer, songwriter, producer who creates real music, and he doesn't have to rely on shock tactics to do it.Eminem has not "taken over",he's simply the flavor of the moment,as is Britney Spears,Justin Timberlake and others who will be soon forgotten.

The poor blind geezer. His best days are behind him. That is what I mean by geezer. Kind of like Steely Dan. Sure they still kick ass live but they are not exactly making the kind of music that got them famous to begin with. Eminem is still going strong, fresh and new. I'm sure his day will come too and we'll be calling him a geezer.

read what you typed, that's what's fucking stupid. Stevie would have had a pretty short career if he only sang about things he can see. i.e darkness only. But no, he's sang songs about leaves turning brown in autumn, looking in mirrors etc. by your reckoning, how can he do that? isn't that equally as stupid? Of course he can comment. Godamn. I really wish some people on here would lose their fingers in an horrendous accident. that was my 6000th post, i think it was a fairly good one. [Edited 12/6/04 4:30am]

Yes,Eminem is still going strong (in a commercial sense),but how many of his songs will be regarded as "classics" 25 years from now? Will people still be playing "Just Lose Yourself" in ten years? Will folks even care about him? Damn near EVERY Stevie Wonder single from the 70s is now righfully regarded as a "classic". Stevie's music has stood the test of time and you know why? Real music never goes out of style.Trends come and go,but let's see if Eminem becomes half the legend that Stevie is.Id rather listen to a multi-talented "old geezer" than a foul-mouthed rapper who must resort to shock tactics in order to sell records. ...
