APPRECIATION THREAD:"HOUSE OF MUSIC"/Toni Tony Tone(1996) Tony Toni Tone's 1996 album HOUSE OF MUSIC has GOT to be one of the most slept on albums ever! It epitomized SOUL and I remember when it came out, it was so different and so superior to what was out. Only Mint COndition was making albums that was as soulful....anyone else feeling this CD?

Yeah, when that came out it was all I listened to for a while. Lovin' You and Still A Man are my favorites.

Those cats took soul music to a new plateau with that album. NO ONE was doing what they were at that time. From the album cover and throwback threads to the songs, you can hear a lot of influences of gospel, jazz, Gamble/Huff, Stax and the early Motown era in this album. My favorite cuts are "Still A Man" (Saadiq's live version on his All Hits At The House of Blues album is awesome not to mention when he performs it live on his tour), "Top Notch," "'Til Last Summer," "Holy Smokes & Gee Whiz" and "Wild Child."

I also forgot to add a lot of Bell/Creed influences, too! "'Til Last Summer" could've easily been performed by The Sylistics, The Spinners, Blue Magic or The Delfonics.
