Sad but tru, but youd expect more from MTV, seeing as they now have an almost historical and iconic status.

they've got to pay the bills too, and they aren't going to do it on the backs of a bunch of has-beens, whether they made the channel as popular as it is or not. it was nice to see Prince get heavy rotation for Musicology this year, though. i'm surprised they haven't graduated U2 to VH1-only status. even more shocking is the amount of airplay John Mellencamp's new song is getting on MTV.

Regardless of them having to pay the bills, a little respect wouldnt go a miss.

no. but then again, they really have no interest and nothing to gain from it 99% of the time.

honestly, if she hadn't shown her tit, that would have gone down as the least remarkable Super Bowl performance in history. pretty lackluster retread of the same old same old.

The same can be said for any artist in Super Bowl halftime history. Janet's, albeit notorious, was DEFINITELY the most memorable TV event in the last 25 years.

ah, but you reference the nipple as the most memorable TV event of the last 25 years. i'm just throwing in other memorable events. doesn't matter where they're from or what context. you're the one making the nipple out to be the most exciting thing to have happened. i added a few images on that level that seems to be important and exciting to you.

really, your Janet-fan inferiority complex is really not attractive. why do you have to be so angry about it? it's just sad sad

what they represent is making money, which is what we all represent. and they do a very good job of it without non-selling has-beens clogging up their playlist.

sure, i'd like to see Prince, Madonna, Bowie, Janet, Michael, George Michael, Me'shell, and many others added more frequently to the rotation. but i understand what it's about, and those people rarely fit that criteria.

I would even argue that the Madonna/Britney kiss was a much more "tasteful" publicity stunt/TV moment than the crazy SuperBowl boob-baring fiasco. And nobody suffered a backlash for it,because it was done in the appropriate place (VMAs).

Which is fair enough. The way they are 'making money' stinks though. Sure they may be doing what theyv gotta do to survive as do alot of people and corporations or whatever. If they wanna ignore artists that made them (literally in some cases), then thats the way it is (although it's low of them). So long as thats all it is, ignoring them. But nowadays MTV is sometimes happy to show disrespect to those artists, if its an opportunity to make themselves look good, and then the next minute they can be praising those artists, purely cause it suits them. It's anoying tuning in to see that and i dont think its necessary and i doubt they'll really suffer in any way from doing the opposite. Just my oppinion.

Inserting a coffee enema (for colon cleansing) is similar to anal rimming?

One is to detoxify the body for health purposes and promote better hygiene, the other is purely for sexual gratification and (oral-anal contact) can lead to contracting sexually-transmitted diseases (STDs) such as gonorrhea, herpes, hepatitis A, intestinal parasites, syphilis, etc.

The former is performed in its appropriate place and is encouraged medically for cleanliness reasons.

eek Okay, totally lost. Isn't this a Janet Thread? Why is Madonna's name in this? Janet fans and Madonna fans should be comparing them on the basis that they are both strong women who know what they want and they both are icons in the music industry. They're both great in their own rights. Both have amazingly memorable videos and songs and both have done a little lip-syncing in their time, so neither one is above the other, IMO. Janet started her career with albums that contained more substance than her current ones and Madonna did just the opposite, so I think they should get together and do something amazing. Duet anyone, biggrin

I just find it sad that people want to pit them against each other. They have been around soo long and have done soo much amazing stuff in the music industry. Now, if someone had started comparing Janet to Ashanti or Beyonce; or Madonna to Britney or Lindsey Lohan, I would be pissed and ranting my ass off, because copy cat artists don't hold a candle to the originals to me. But, Janet and Madonna came out at about the same time and both managed to survive together for almost 20 years. I give them both much respect, especially in such a fickle business as the music industry.

I have a theory. There are certain Janet fans on this site who probably feel that Madonna gets a "free pass" for things that Janet gets criticized for.I've heard more than one Janet fan say things like "Madonna kisses Britney on TV and that's acceptable, but Janet bares her boob on TV and she suffers a backlash".JanFan,in particular, seems to be really bitter, although I'm not sure if it's because of this particular incident.

I don't see why either incident would be considered worse than the other. They were both publicity stunts that got them attention. Janet's was just more blown out of proportion, considering that I've seen Pamela Anderson's and Lil Kim's nipples on many red carpet events that come on the same channel as the Super Bowl. I remember watching the Nickelodeon Kid's Choice Awards on Nickelodeon (a children's network) waaay back in 2000 and watching Britney Spears gyrate around for 4 minutes in a white, crop top with her nipples showing through, yet her album sold over 10 million copies. Stupid parents!!! I was just pissed that Janet was pointed out as being a bad person for a 3 second nipple slip when anyone who watched that garbage half-time show knows that it wasn't kid-friendly way before Nipplegate even happened. The line up was P. Diddy, Diddy, Puffy....whatever he wants to call himself today, Nelly, and Kid Rock. I watched it and was more offended by Nelly's constant crotch grabbing, Diddy's incessant groping of his dancers, and Kid Rocks defamation of the American flag, which he happily turned into a poncho, than I was by the stupid little nipple slip. I was even more pissed that Justin wasn't man enough to not agree to do the stunt to begin with. A real gentleman (which he has claimed to be in the past) wouldn't have agreed to the stunt. Real gentlemen don't grab women's chests to rip off their cloths, but Janet is the only evil one. It was such a double standard moment that I wanted to puck, especially since nobody seemed to protest the male streaker whose slong was banging against his leg as he was running across the field for almost five minutes, in clear view of the exact same children who were soo damaged by a Janet's nipple. All that Super Bowl stunt did for me was help me see that many parent's are stupid as rocks.
