Gwen McCrae-QUEEN OF RARE GROOVE

I just got home from seeing the wonderful
Gwen McCrae at this really small club,a hotel lobby
in Stockholm,Sweden.I was so exited when seeing that she'd B
playing here cuz it's really rare we get artists like this 2 Sweden.
The place was sooo packed, free concert as always at this place Lydmar.
Jampacked & sweaty!!! With a badass backing band Gwen hit the stage
& really set the place 2 fire. She was amazing.60 years old & so
beautiful & such energy. She looked just like 30 years ago.
Her energy & charisma reminded me a bit of Tina Turner from
the Ike & Tina days. That raw & sexy output.
She spread her love & the audience gave their love back.
I was just infront of her, just by the stage(I'm always trying 2 B
infront of the stage, lol) with the brightest smile throu the show as she
performed explosive versions of songs like 90% of me is you,
All this love that I'm giving,Rocking chair
,that led into
Rock your baby, originally done by her then husband George McCrae,
but Finch/Casey actually wrote that song with her in mind 2 do it,
but she was unavailable just by the time of recording so George ended
up doing that. She really took it back home 2night!!!
After kickass versions of Funky sensation & Keep this fire burning
the response & love from the Stockholm audience was so overwhelming that
she was moved 2 tears..The cheers would'nt stop.
It sure was a hot funky night in the cold Stockholm with some genuine
Miami TK soul...
