I bought the Madhouse album because of the super sexy chick on the cover! Thank goodness I enjoyed the music as well! I won't do that now... Can't blow hard earned dough on potential crap!

Yes, but only in the $3 used bargain bin. When the sunlight strikes raindrops in the air, they act as a prism and form a rainbow. The rainbow is a division of white light into many beautiful colors. Regardless of the day, I'm glad you were born.

I have done this alot. One of the biggest and most satisfying surprises was a CD titled "From the City to the Sea" by a band called Mighty Truth. The cover is of a guy hanging upside down from a rope and there is a White roman column type structure next to him. I just thought it was an interesting cover and wondered what kind of music lay underneath and it is one of my favorite albums ever.

Not quite. But I have bought a cd from hearing one song playing in the store. Or one song on the radio.
I was in the store, and Erykah Badu came on. I was like, is this Billie Holliday? They said nope, erykah badu. I walked straight to the rack and picked it up. I have every album now. After I heard "I'm Like A bird", who, I thought was erykah on the radio, they said it was Nelly Furtado and I bought that one too. I also saw Eric Benet perform a song on BET - cover of sly's 'if you want me to stay' - and literally grabbed my keys, drove to the store and bought it. :-p

The only reason I bought it was because Raphael Saadiq was featured and produced a track (which happens to be the only good song on the album I did the same thing. I think she makes a good singing partner on his album Ray Ray. I Like "Chic" and "I Want You Back." I used to see her 12 inch single for "You'll Never Find (A Better Woman)" in the bins last summer. I was like, "who is this chick with Jadakiss." Then the cd came out in the fall, and I saw the vidoe for "Just Wanna Be Your Girl" on Midnight Love in October-- 1 time. Hype Williams directed it. The video was simple, but classy.

dancerella said: Have any of you ever gone to a cd store and just radomly bought a cd because the cover looked interesting? I have! I bought Mount Sims about 2 years ago and luckily ended up loving it. It's an electro album, very Prince-ish. The funny thing is that about a week after I bought it I started hearing about him and seeing him in magazines. Funny innit?
I just checked out Ultra Sex on Amazon. I'm picking it up tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up.

You can safely buy all kinds of music by artists whose music you haven't heard beforehand according to record labels. Small labels don't put out utter shit, ever.
