I leave here for an hour, and this is what I get? hmm

How did we end up talking about Dr. Dre and tater tots? lol

Well, I'll play Devil's advocate and say that even if you think that Jazz is now underappreciated by the youth, you will be surprised at the number of cats my age like Jazz. Even when I was in Columbus studying Jazz, I saw a few that could play and appreciate it.

By the way, has anybody heard of this band called Love Tractor? They were an instrumental New Wave band from the Athens Georgia music scene.

I'm still waiting for that Morris Day & The Time CD too. I'm so stupid...I met Jellybean at Prince's afterparty, told him how great the Soul music of Minneapolis was, but never gave a single thought to asking him about a new Time album. doh!

I guess we'll never see one. shrug

And that live Time/Morris solo album thing doesn't quite cut it either. mad

I'm enjoying the new Interpol album Antics, it's a bit darker in sound than Turn on the Bright Lights, but I'm not always the discerning type. I've been itchong to pick up Hot Fuss by The Killers and the most recent album from The Hives, but I'm on a budget. Damn bills!!

To be honest, I totally don't remember which Joy Division tracks were playing. She just put the CD in and away we went.

You know what, last night I was listening to Interpol's latest album and I must say I was very impressed. I especially loved track 3. I forgot the name of it. But it goes from sounding Post-Punk to sounding Dub/Reggae.

The Hives rock. They've got the baddest crazy-ass frontman (he kinda looks like a young Malcolm McDowell).

I'm telling you, if they were a Funk band instead of Garage/Punk, they would be the baddest funk band out there. They'd definitely get my full support.

Yeah, I loved The Hives last album Veni, Vidi Vicious, they had a bit of The Kinks influence on that on, so I'll buy it eventually. I like thier frontman ( won't try to spell Swedish name ), he's definetlily has the rock show act down pat. I'd love to see them even attempt a little funk, that would be a riot!!

I never got into The Hives. I think they're okay, but I don't see what's so special about them. The whole garage thing in general is starting to bore me. I like Sahara Hotnights, but they toned down the rock on their last release unfortunately. Of all the retro-rock-type bands out now, the one I like the most are The Donnas, but their sound is a little more metal. I just saw them live this week for the sixth time.

The Hives' first single from VVV was grreat. But for some reason, their debut didn't *click* with me. Still heart mah Swedes though. love

I like them girls. Women make up the majority of what I listen to. A bunch of guys playing music is a little boring to me unless they're doing something really different.

You'll probaly like The Slits then. They were the first independent all-female Punk band.

i used to go see love tractor a bunch of times, they played atlanta a lot in the early 80's. some friends of mine were good friends with mark cline, the guitar player, and my friend sam, was "executive producer" of their first album, which means he put up a couple of hundred bucks to help buy studio time. they were a lot of fun in concert, sort of a southern college new wave version of the ventures.
