Rumor of Destiny's Child new album flopping

Someone at work said they heard that last week, Eminem's album sold like a million in one week, while Destiny's Child's new one sold like 66,000. I asked her if she meant 660,000... and she said "No, her management is wondering how to save it"

We usually chat about entertainment news, and she usually is dead on.. she also has no particular bias towards Eminem.

But I can't find a source for this.

JANFAN, you may not have to suffer Destiny Fulfilled for as long as you thought! eek

I think the Destiny's Child CD was released a few days early,so the chart reflects only two days of sales? Or something like that?

Someone mentioned this on another thread.

Yeah, but that wasn't for a full week's worth of sales. Hitsdailydouble has them at #2 this week with about 505,002 copies scanned.

We can still take solice, because this is over 100,000 fewer copies than they sold on their last go around.

That's what I was thinking.Did the album leak out early, forcing their label to release it ahead of schedule, thus preventing the album from getting a full week's worth of sales?

I'm not sure what the exact reasoning was, but I do know that the album leaked before it was released; I'm not a fan, though, so I may be wrong.

well if they didn't maximize the "first week" sales with attention to days of the week/release date, maybe the label is so confident in the project that they just don't care.

Beyonce's dolo sold like, what? fo, five million?

I was kinda hoping for a lukewarm reaction to that "Lose My Breath" single, cuz I think it's shit despite it's triple-A rotation on radio.

Once again, the #19 debut was due to STREET DATE VIOLATIONS before the actual release, not during the first official sales week for this record (which was last Monday to Friday). The album moves to #2 this week - meaning it would have debuted at #2 if retailers hadn't sold it before its release.

I have an idea this album is really going to tank, judging from the reviews and the fact that the publicity is coming as as sort of desperate (say now to at least one show!). Still, it had a werid release date of Monday however I was at a Media Play on the Sunday before it was released and it was out there (could have been a mistake). Even if the first week or so has strong sales, with parents buying the disc for their daugthers who are "over" DC, I really don't see it holding up.

The Cd was released a few days early due to bootleggers with no promtion or anything. Very few people knew about the release and I think that only a few stores had the CD, so it sold like 66,000 for those few days.

Todays soundscan numbers say that for the original week, which was last week the CD sold 497,000, so there's no flopping there.

That makes more sense for "actual" first week sales.

It hasn't sold that well in the UK. It debuted at No 5 on the national chart.

I don't think it's gonna do well, and you guys know how much of a bizarre fascination with these girls. Is it possible to be too old at 23? This is a far cry from the energy and sass of pervious DC efforts. What happened? I blame Beyonce and her romantic inclinations. The album is just too ballad heavy. It ain't the same. Maybe the girls have outgrown the group. It's a sad day but I think this will be their last album, and maybe it's for the best if they have to be so laid back. DC screams for extremes. This album isn't.

Good on Beyonce for bringing her friends back and everything..

but I'm sure another solo album would have done better than the group's...

Just based on branding.. yknow?

So Destiny's Child (and, hopefully, Beyonce) will go away. Plus, it's a shitty record.
