Bono? Well, I don't have an answer, but that's probably going to be one of the more interesting choices on the thread.

Best, in terms of perfection would have to be Ella Fitzgerald.

'Bullet the Blue Sky' on 'Rattle and Hum' has one of the most operatic voices from a "rock and roll" musician I've ever heard. I'm the first mammal to wear pants.

I think David Bowie also has one of the greatest voices ever; I'm not looking for a Whitney Hoston with a "techinically perfect" voice, or a Mariah Carey/Christina Aguilera to melisma over every single damn song. I want EMOTION in my music. Bono/Bowie both deliver more pure emotion than any other singer I've ever felt. Screw showmanship! I'm the first mammal to wear pants.

If you ask me for a VOICE I would rather more inclined to make way for Ella, Billie Holiday or Mahalia Jackson. The only ones who comes close in this era would be Bjork, Bowie and Prince. They have taken this heritage and have taken it to the next level.

It depends.
Every voice is different. You can have best emotive voice; best technically proficient voice; best dramatic voice; best rhythmic voice... Doris Day, Aretha Franklin and Leonard Cohen all have great voices but all for differing reasons.

Whitney Houston's voice was PERFECT. She practically set the standard by which other female vocalists are compared to. Stevie Wonder would get my vote for best male voice. Prince has a beautiful falsetto though. It is better than his full voice. You hear the way he sings in "I Miss You"? That can move you to tears. GlamSlamKid...The resident clown on Prince.orgy

My vote goes to Elvis. He could sing any style of music and sound believable. He was an incredible vocalist. Especialy in the early 60's and the Vegas years.

I'll have to go for TTD as well. The guy has been blessed truly, and I'm not even talking about his rasp and other vocal acrobatics skills. Just his soft voice that he uses most through the "Symphony Or Damn"-album or the chorus of "Goodbye Diane" is enough for me.
