I've never heard Color Me Badd's but there is a song called "Wildflower" by New Birth from the 1970s that is great.

"Wildflower" was originally recorded in the early 70s by a band named Skylark.Later,it was covered by The New Birth,The O'Jays and others.

it wasnt live, The New Birth just had this Incredible "Live sound" but it was done in the studio.. the engineers who produced the new birth's albums were pure genius to create a Live sound.

Are you talking about the version where they break it down and start talking lines like..."The first time we heard this, we thought it was a black group doing a white thang or was it a white group doing a black thang"?

I don't have it. I heard it only once in the early 1990s on a late night quiet storm show on the radio.
