I am a big fan of Donny Hathaway. At the D.C. soundcheck, I told Prince that my family listened to the good stuff like Donny Hathaway and he seemed to be impressed that we listen to the good stuff.

Yes, yea, rat own, rat own! donny he's the man! I'm just glad he's dead, or there would be a "donny.org" and fans would start contests in the best hotel-window-jump. "Peace and Benz -- The future, made in Germany"

The only thing I luv more than Donny is his daughter Lailah. Thats who P needs to have at the celebration this summer. They say money don't buy you luv. But it'll help w/ the search.

Jag, you're right. Lalah's the bomb diggety. Not just her solo stuff, but her work with Joe Sample and Marcus Miller just make my toes tingle...

I like the stuff he's produced for other acts as well. like san francisco's "coldblood". donny did their thrid album and it rocks. especially "valdez in the country", which is a cover of one of his own tunes.

~Me...I love the man's music heart, soul, vision, voice, lyrics....Hes underrated 2 say the least. Many people talk about Marvin Gaye, but if they peep the body of work Donny has...they would B blown away just as much~ He's got songs that can make me cry, as well as search my own soul~ No shame in that game....sad that he left B4 his time...he's 4ever missed. Loved him when he was teamed up with Roberta Flack...Oh what Heavenly sounds, U are my love U are my heaven ....don't get no better then that~ I think I'll B digin his music this weekend~

I Absolutely LOVE Donny Hathaway!!!!! Talk about someone that deserved much more props than he received. I am bold enough to say ,that he was the GREATEST MALE VOCALIST of the 20th Century. Both he and Sam Cooke were freaks of nature, they were so good. I've seen interviews with Roberta Flack and she suggested that Donny would be really depressed because he felt he wasn't appreciated. Oh my goodness if he only knew how much he is appreciated today.
By the way LaLa Hathaway is BAD!!!!! She sounds so much like her father. I am convinced Beyonce's career would not be where it is, if she had dark skin.

"Everything is Everything" & "Extensions of a Man" are the BEST 2 Donny discs.
ALSO RECOMMENDED BY PIMPY THE CLOWN: "Roberta Flack with Donny Hathaway". It's nice to see some of you have more than "Chaos and Disorder" in yo collections! Jonathan Frakes cannot act.

donny was a genius. he really was one of souls greatest voices. everything is everything has a riff similar to how prince plays strange relationship live too. perhaps it was 'borrowed'.
someday well all be free is one of the most simultaneously sad/uplifting songs ever made. i havent heard alicia keys doing it but i think some songs should be left alone - im not sure she has the voice for it.

Lalah Hathaway sings background vocals on Meshell Ndegeocello's new joint "Cookie" which drops June 4th. Also, Caron Wheeler appears on the album. AND, I LOOOOVE Donny.. his voice is like BUTTA! My faves include.. A Song for You, and We're Still Friends..

One of the all-time greatest soul/R&B vocalists. This man's vocal dexterity was simply awesome. He could handle all type of material, even dance-floor stuff like his 1980 jam "Back Together Again" with Roberta Flack. That song used to hit hard!!!!! You can similiarities in his voice and George Benson's vocals. Great artist!!!!! Miss him greatly.
