Name the last three albums David Bowie bought

The latest transmission by the Thin White Duke, from Bowienet:

THERE'S NOTHING ELSE TO SAY.

'THE ARCADE FIRE' HAVE THE ALBUM OF THE YEAR.

You must, simply must, buy it now, today, pronto. Quite the most beautiful, moving and passionate piece of brilliant song-writing and quirky performance I've heard in YONKS !!!

It's called 'FUNERAL' (Merge Records) and nothing else (and yes, I've heard the new U2) comes close.

(Well, maybe 'Secret Machines' and their CD 'Now Here Is Nowhere)

OK, OK, . .. I'm doing my diary about them both and some others, a sort of year end round up.

he should spend less time on the internet and buying other people's albums and use this downtime from the heart attack and lollipop eye and write/record a new one of his own. i'm going to be jonesing for him in about 3 months because he spoiled us with the last 2 by putting them out so close together.

yeah, who does he think he is, posting on bowienet and ranting about favorite bands....david bowie?!?

(seriously, the last passionate shout-out i heard from him was about grandaddy, and i freakin' LOVE them. i'm seriously tempted to check out the arcade fire.)

There was a full page article on this band (Arcade Fire, that is) in The National Post (national canadian newspaper) last week - the writer was practically wetting himself over these guys. I haven't heard one note of their music, but the write-ups I've seen have captured my interest. Worth investigating, I think...

I read this. It's rare that he gets so amped about new music.

I heard that he and Lou Reed were checking out a Franz Ferdinand show together. Talk about pressure!

the arcade fire cd is great! i hear some intense bowie influence on it so i can't say i'm surprised that he's so into the cd. there's also some talking heads sounding stuff in there, too. cool record.

after i read that quote, i went to winmx and downloaded the cd (as much as i love bowie, i still can't drop money on a disc without hearing it). after two songs, i was hooked. its that good! you'd really dig it.

i have their first album, and i liked that "in a young man's mind" or whatever it's called. i hear their new album is pretty nice, too.

and i'm sure the U2 crack is just playful competitiveness on la bowie's part...after all, they have mr. eno in common. giggle

It's really cool to see him posting on his site, but don't you just hate all the madness that comes with it? 5.555 threads with the same topic.

it would be the same, if not worse, if prince did that at npgmc. actually, it would be that way at any site devoted to a specific artist. its cool that bowie acknowledges all those people are, in fact, there for him.

same thing happens at courtney love's site after she's done cranking out a few rants.

"We love you Courtney!!! WTF are you talking about?!?"

Don't get me wrong, I love Dave like I'd love my wonky-eyed retard cousin - but his taste in other people's music has been totally crappy as of late.

it used to be pretty rotten in the mid-80s...i remember a rolling stone interview where he was giving shout-outs to some really crappy bands...but over the past few years i think he's really been pretty dead on with his picks...not to mention i think it's very cool that he likes to talk about the records he gets into.

that reminds me of the quote at the end of that french & saunders "shakespeare's sister" video parody....

"you can take the girl out of bananarama, but you can't take the bananarama out of the girl." lol

it's funny...when they came out, NO, i really didn't like them at all. i thought they were boring and my headspace was so into the really vibrant, experimental bowie stuff at the time (i'd just started getting into him back then) that i didn't wanna hear him doing straight-forward rock. but over the past couple of years, i've revisited the first tin machine album and i have to say it's really good stuff. i especially like "i can't read" and the cover of "working class hero".
