Mine has to be "licence to kill" sung by the great Gladys knight.....I really love this song at the moment! Iam a big fan of Narada Michael Walden so that may be why.....he always pushes the artists he works with vocally!

Also "If you ask me too" by Patti labelle is my second fav (though i know it ain't the theme song)! Patti does not go overboard thank god on that cut!

The ones more recently have been piss poor (since the catchy "goldeneye")

I also did "a view to a kill" by Duran duran.....that is one of their best songs

Damn the middle 8 on "licence to kill" gives me goosebumps!!!

I would agree with the ones you have mentioned and would add Live And Let Die, and Goldeneye.

Thanx! To be honest with u, i thought a few morew would say "licence to kill" too.....but instead bloody "goldfinger".....oh well, "the living daylights" was quite good too!

"license to kill" is the most american sounding bond theme ever, just like the film itself! "license", to me seems more like a 80's Stallone movie like "cobra" then a bond movie.....which is y it is my fav! The oil truck scene at the end is killer! No silly shit in this film.....

But it's a British series....we've got enough bad Stallone films, we don't need to hijack other countries franchises now, do we? wink

I love "Spy Who Loved Me," though the Carly Simon song isn't all that Bond-ish.

I'm in a very small minority, but I think Roger Moore was the best bond. Furthermore, while I wouldn't go as far as saying that Connery was the worst, he's easily the most overrated. Everyone just worships him because he's the original, as far as I'm concerned.

Hell, George Lazenby and Timothy Dalton were better than Roger Moore. Moore's campy portrayal is nauseating. barf

riiiiight. And Sean connery's portrayal isn't campy? give me a fucking break. The whole damn bond series/genre is pure camp. Moore was just cheekier and funnier, which, as far as I'm concerned, is the point.

Actually , the first Bond was played by Barry Nelson in the TV Movie "Casino Royale" in 1954.

actually it was david Niven and that was a woodie allen satire, not a real bond story.

No, that's not the point. A bit of tongue-in-cheek is part of it, but Roger Moore went overboard. He played Bond as an insipid dandy. Also, you can actually buy that women would want to sleep with Connery. I doubt you'd find too many women who would let Moore near them. Bond is suppossed to be a dashing super-spy, not a complete dork.

No, there was a TV adaptation of Casino Royale several years before the satirical film with Niven and Allen. In it, he was changed to Jimmy Bond, a CIA operative. Barry Nelson was, technically, the first actor to portray Bond.

No,Barry Nelson was actually the first Bond in that TV movie episode
of "Casino Royal".The 1967 movie with David Niven tho was a parody.

I disagree. If Roger Moore is an insipid dandy, then Sean Connery is a contrivedly badass cock. His portrayal just comes off so forcedly suave to me. Roger Moore just seems more naturally smooth while funny at the same time. Now on the other hand, the bond films that Connery was in are better than the Roger Moore ones (for the most part) but that's a complete different issue than the actual portrayal of bond.

Hmmm, we'll just have to disagree. I don't see Moore as "smooth" at all. The only film that I thought he almost got it right was "For Your Eyes Only", but even that just fell short of the mark.

As far as the FILMS go, well, I agree with you 100%. Of course, we cannot forget that Connery was in "Thunderball", so laughably bad! He was so ashamed of it, he came back to remake it ("Never Say Never Again").

As far as portrayals go, the most ACCURATE one to Ian Fleming's novels was Timothy Dalton. He was pretty much hated by most fans, unless they had actually read the books.

I loved tim's 2 films, but like I said earlier, "licence....." does seem anerican to me.....much more gritty too as he gets fired etc.....they were brave with that film! I wish Tim stayed on! Didn't he turn down "goldeneye" and why such a wait between films? Did "licence....." bomb?

"licence....." is more mature then any other bond Film....as for Bonds last two? Pure crap but anyway.....BRING BACK TIM I SAY

I've always thought Dalton was an underappreciated bond. I'm starting to think that Brosnen may be the worst bond

Yeah, those movies of the 60's were the best.
My favourite Bond movie is On her majestys secret service
from 1969.George Lazenby was not the best Bond tho' .
He fell totally in the shadow of Sean.
I think Brosnan is great but his movies suck.

"Never say never again" is a re-make of "Thunderball".
I don't think it's bad tho'.I think all the Connery's R classics.
