fav bond theme and why?

Mine has to be "licence to kill" sung by the great Gladys knight.....I really love this song at the moment! Iam a big fan of Narada Michael Walden so that may be why.....he always pushes the artists he works with vocally!

Also "If you ask me too" by Patti labelle is my second fav (though i know it ain't the theme song)! Patti does not go overboard thank god on that cut!

The ones more recently have been piss poor (since the catchy "goldeneye")

I also did "a view to a kill" by Duran duran.....that is one of their best songs

Damn the middle 8 on "licence to kill" gives me goosebumps!!!

Nobody does it better sung by Carly Simon in 1977.
Always loved that beautiful melody & after seeing
"Lost in translation" there was this scéne that I loved
when a girl sang that at a karaoke bar
& it's such a great song.

I loved that Sheyl crow one..I love how she struggles in the chorus..
it adds tension & drama cool 'GoldenEye' is just plain awful..Tina's
worst recorded singing..she really overdoes it with the nasal twang..&
the lyrics were very shitty...'Other girls they gather around him..
If I had him..'
etc..I just didn't believe Tina..It sounded like Soap
Opera acting 2 me.. .

Live and Let Die - Wings (just a cool song)
Nobody Does It Better - Carly Simon (another cool song, classic)
Goldfinger - Shirley Bassey (it's Shirley, dammit!)
For Your Eyes Only - Sheena Easton
Die Another Day - Madonna (addictive)
Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

2 of my favorites aslo have the best theme songs

Nobody does it better - So very pretty..love me some Carly anyday.
View to a kill - It's like repeated over a dozen times during the movie.
Crap did I forget Live and Let Die??? Yeah that's good too.

and a runner up...for your eyes only - sheena easton.

Though not my favorites...Goldfinger and Diamonjds are forever...because of Shirley Bassey

These are my favourite Bond Theme Songs:
Sheryl Crow "Tomorrow Never Dies" - Sheryl's powerful voice, great orchestration and the guitar performance - BTW she has written the song and I just love her music...
Garbage "The World Is Not Enough" - Because of Miss Shirley Manson herself!!!!

My top five:

1. A View To A Kill- Duran Duran (kick-ass tune that really captured the flavour of a Bond film)

2. The World Is Not Enough- Garbage (Shirley Manson's voice drool )

3. Live And Let Die- Paul McCartney (a manic, groovy number. One of the best non-Beatle Paul songs)

4. For Your Eyes Only- Sheena Easton (Cheesy and sappy all at once, yet the tune is just irresistible)

5. Nobody Does It Better (the Spy Who Loved Me)- Carly Simon (friggin' great tune. Radiohead does a kick-ass cover of it live from time-to-time)

Honorable mention has to go to Goldfinger and Tomorrow Never Dies

I'm in a very small minority, but I think Roger Moore was the best bond. Furthermore, while I wouldn't go as far as saying that Connery was the worst, he's easily the most overrated. Everyone just worships him because he's the original, as far as I'm concerned.

Actually , the first Bond was played by Barry Nelson in the TV Movie "Casino Royale" in 1954.

Damn skippy von Trippy, I love this song. And I like Sheena Easton's For your Eyes Only if I had to choose one more.

Goldfinger - Shirley Bassey
John Barry arrangement and the Welshwoman's big voice
(her delivery of the word Goldfinger knocks your head back)

Thunderball - Tom Jones
John Barry arrangement and the Welshman's big voice

Just like I expect James Bond to be Sean Connery smoker, have cool gear, kick much butt and get plenty of chicks,
I also expect the theme songs to have a big voice singer setting all this hedonism up.

Nobody Does It Better - Camp nonsense

Moonraker - Wistful, ethereal gibberish

Surrender - I know it wasn't the main theme, but k.d. lang's song pisses all over Sheryl Crow's effort.

Oh, I also like the orchestral tune titled 'Capsule In Space' from You Only Live Twice.
