Is anyone else missing live radio DJs? As I type, I am at work this evening and it is boring and lonely as hell. I usually work days which is no problem because everyone else is at work also. At night, though, it's just me and this big ass building.
I have turned the radio from station to station and it is just depressing. It seems like every radio station is automated these days with the DJs voice recorded earlier that day or even the day before. The only talk you hear is the introduction of the song titles and an occassional station ID. One station even brags that it doesn't have DJs talking over the songs. For someone with as large a record collection that I have, I am not sitting around trying to record the songs off of the radio. I turn on the radio to be entertained and at least feel like I'm being kept company...an automated station just does not fill that void. Who else misses live radio DJs? Andy is a four letter word.

i work nights every night (except weekends, of course) and my co-workers pretty much keep things lively. usually when i'm feeling really lonely and like it's too quiet, i just turn on some NPR and listen to whatever show is on...but i don't really have the attention span for that at work, so i just listen to CDs or whatever my co-workers are listening to on their radios.

frankly, the FM radio DJ is one of the most irritating entertainment entities on earth. somewhere down there below mimes and birthday party clowns. [Edited 11/29/04 19:55pm] "Awards are like hemorrhoids. Sooner or later, every asshole gets one."

To Tell you the truth, I don't listen to the radio much b/c its so damn formatted and automated. The only stations that I can slightly tolerate are Jazz and Oldies stations. Listening to the radio nowadays is not like it was when we all were growing up.
