That's funny, because he outsells Prince, Madonna, Janet, Mariah, etc on a weekly basis.

This boxset is mostly made out of stuff that has been given to the public many times over. Plus it has had little to no promotion (few boxsets do). Not even MJ fans expected it to chart well. Look back through history and box sets have never set the world on fire in terms of sales. It's a collectors thing.

Though this is very true, MJ still can't sell his newer albums like he used to. Invincible, Number Ones and Ultimate collection sales are nothing compared to Thriller, Off the Wall, Bad, HIStory.

Though i blame Sony entirely because they put no promotion into anything by him anymore.

I did hear on the news though that MJ was seriously upset with his sales of the Ultimate Collection.

How or why is he upset? Why didn't he get his ass out there and promote it!

LAWD. The King of pop?

Let's just hand Usher the title whether he deserves it or not.

Michael is the former top selling artist of the 80's and 90's. He simply no longer relevent except when we're in the mood to go to the circus.

I just downloaded it and made single CD up of the good unreleased stuff.

If he'd released it as a single disc of unreleased stuff, I would have bought it.

Instead, Him and Sony tried to rip me off, forcing me to buy stuff i have already bought, just so i could get the new stuff.

So I chose to play them at their own game, failing to fall for their blackmail marketing.

I hope they are happy. I am.

I'll make a donation to NCPCC. I'm sure they would all agree with that, instead of profit.

biggrin .

What is NCPCC? Seriously? Is that just code for your mortage bill or something? smile Yeah, it was kind of a rip and while I was interested in the new stuff as well as having a lot of the old togehter on one set, I just can't afford it right now. I can understand why many wouldn't make the investment for a collection of 70% (give or take 10 and that's figuring the DVD as all new stuff) previously released stuff.

Though WHY THE FUCK NO "SERIOUS EFFECT" OR THE STUNNING "FOR ALL TIME"!!! Infact "for all time" didn't even sound quite finished and yet it sounded so gorgeous.....and "serious effect" has the best/most creative use of backng vox (at the beginning of the track) that I have ever heard!

AGREE!!
The "For all time" i have is really rough in terms of the mix, but the song is brilliant! This would surely be in my top 5 MJ songs if it were mixed and released... LOVE IT!
Music, sweet music, I wish I could caress and...kiss, kiss...

I always assumed that box sets are never big sellers anyway confuse

Because of their higher price, these packages seem to have limited appeal (mostly,it's just the diehard fans who go crazy over this stuff) and rarely ever do that well on the charts. In fact, most of the box sets that I own (by other artists) were not big sellers at all.

Im Not too surprised with factors such as null promotion and highlights (Outakes and a dvd), that would more likely appeal to die hard fans, plus the fact that most of this content is already owned by so many people in some form or another. Im still gonna get it tho!
