Come on now ya'll, didn't you watch the BET awards a couple years ago when they had a little tribute to Whitney? Luther sung "All the man that i need", and X-Tina sung "Run to you" then Whitney attempted i will always love you, then she started thanking people and shit, and with Babyface, and Luther standing RIGHT BEHIND HER, she says "COME EVERYBODY GIVE IT UP FOR THE ORIGINAL KANG OF R&B, MR, BOBBAY BROWN!!!" I was like :shanke:

nod glam...I guess ppl have missed all the Whitney houston references to Bobby being the Kang.....lol

that's why i had to drop that knowledge.

it doesn't say intrumentalist.

musicians are people who make music, whether it's music you like or not. Usher is a singer with a few albums out. you can't not call him a musician.

One who composes, conducts, or performs music, especially instrumental music.

The connotation is instrumental, although performers can be considered "musicians" under that definition. However, that would also mean we'd have to recognize certain no-talent blonde teen pop stars as musicians, since they can apparently "perform" (lip synch and dance, with occasional twittering) a song.

If you're comfortable doing that, go right ahead. wink

it's right there in the definition you posted. "especially instrumental music" but not exclusively. he sings, he's a musician.

Your right. I guess being a studio enhanced vocalist/lip syncer would constitute as being a musician. lol

Janfriend

I think you can be considered a musician now if you can create a song and you don't have to play an instrument to actually create a song

You can hum a melody you have in your head and have someone who can play an instrument by ear figure out the right key and there you go. You have created a song, which would make you a musician

I can only play and read in treble clef and I cannot transpose, so I right a song in treble clef and someone else will have to tranpose it for me. It doesn't mean I am not a musician. Well, since I play an instrument, I am a musician. Just using that as an example. I don't know chords by heart but I can read music and play an instrument.

Did that make sense?
