It would be unfair to compare Janet with Paula on terms of who made the best videos, as Janet's career has been alot longer, but as far as dancing goes, it is a tough choice?

The rivalry was obvious and both made stunning videos in late 80's.....whilst most would prefer Janets music nowadays to Paula's, u have to admit Paula was the better dancer!

Not only did "forever your girl" outsell "control" at the time, but the videos were more advanced chorography wise too, mainly because a then unknown Paula choreographed janet's "control" videos!

But Janet stepped up her game tons with "r nation" video and the vids that followed them! R nation which has her best dancing by far.....but I still side with Paula!

Just check "cold hearted" and u see amazing and UNIQUE dancing that is a mix of ballet and pop with tap etc.....Paula was unique and more versitile then Janet!

Also "knocked out" still stands as having superb dance moves, same with the first version of "the way that u love me"!

"opposites attract" did not have much dancing, but the tap was good

"Vibeology", the last video of hers I remember seeing on quite a bit was superb too but don't ge me wrong, Janet is a great dancer, with "miss u much" "alright" "Nasty" (wonder why?) being steller examples!


As much as u may hate to say it, Paula not only was more original then janet (her mix of dance styles), but also taught Janet how to dance too.....

i LOVE janet and all, but i have to go with Paula. that bitch can DANCE. i have the cold hearted video on my computer. it's one of my favorite videos ever. i mean...wow. and i'm a dancer myself. Paula is just an extraordinary choreographer. and she's part of the trinity, Her, Fatima Robinson (who did aaliyah's videos, and michael jacksons "Do you remember the time?"and backstreet boys, and sooooo much more...) and Tina Landon (Janet's previous choreographer and she did J-Lo's "Feelin' So Good" video) damn. i miss dancing.

Iam a dancer (well I like to dance) and I was just watching both of Paula's home vids again and I thought "damn, I forgot how good she was at dancing".shame "vibeology" is not on one of her home videos.....I used to love that video!

what do u think of that darren Henson bloke and that other one who had his dance series on MTV? (he choreographed for nsync and Britney etc....)

What is so good about Paula is that I can tell her type of dancing as soon as I see it! U can c, without even questioning, that she did Debbie Gibsons "Electric youth" and "anything is possible" videos (both of which r pretty good.though i'm sure NO ONE would agree ), also I reckon she did Prince's "batdance" video, it looks like it anyway!

Who choreographed Prince's "cream" video by the way? The dancing is very good.....

yeah she did Batdance. that is true. you can tell her dancing from others. she popped in my head first time i saw the video. i thought she was one of the jokers. well, she might be. and there is NOTHING special about Derrin Henson. the only reason he became popular was because the people he was choreographing for were popular at the time. he ain't dancing no more. but yeah, Paula is hot shit. let me break out my old dancing tapes...

U seen "straight up"? Their Puala is just dong spontanious stuff and it still looks good! Even Bob Fosse liked her dancing....."forever your girl" is another Paula video that is great dancing wise, Puala's moves r unpredictable.....something that is very hard to do.....

What is i about Britney that you don't like? Tell me "I'm a Slave for You" video was not one of the best dance videos to date; AND the song is funky.

I give u "slave 4u", that had good moves.....not particually original (yet more bumping and grinding) but yeah it was good.....now compare that to "knocked out" by paula Abdul! It gives u more moves in 20 secs then in Britneys whole video!

But what makes Britney's stand out is the bumpin and grindin'. Paul could never move her hips like Britney. Paula was a little stiff. She also had gained weight when she performed on MTV video awards in the 90's. She was out of step and very uninspired. I have YET to see that in my girl Britney

I loves me some Janet mighty fierce, but you have to give absolute props to Paula just for versatility alone. And the fact that she's choreographed for mimes, deaf children, and that dance sequence in "Coming to America", that puts her in an elite league of dancers/choreographer. However, when it's just about dancing, I have to give it to Paula for being able to do it all. Janet is FANTASTIC, but until she puts on some tap shows and hoofs it like Paula did, Paula will be forever my girl!

Deaf children or not, Paula is OLD SCHOOL and she needs to stick to American Idol and make room for a younger, hipper, better dancer like Britney(with Christina Aguilera a close 2nd)

janet (when not doing her lock-pop nation moves) is much more fluid with her dancing.....


interesting sidenote: Rita Moreno (in the dvd of the special edition of West Side Story) talks about how natural and fluid that George Kakaris' dancing was during the movie...and that in her book Fred Astaire was the only other male dancer who was that graceful...i never really noticed that in dancing before....

and thats something Paula lacks BIGTIME!!
