Where is Eric Gales? Not so long ago, Eric Gales was drawing comparisons to the great Hendrix himself. He was tall, african-american and played guitar left-handed, just like Jimi. He could also play his ass off. Came out with his first album, "The Eric Gales Band" when he was just sixteen. Won 'Best New Talent' in Guitar World Magazine later that year. Also got props from Carlos Santana and made a few appearances on Arsenio Hall's show. Did a cd with his brothers, Eugene Gales and the late Little Jimmy King, 'Left Hand Brand' and then laid low for a few years. He stormed back with his first solo album, 'That's What I Am', on the MCA label in 2001. The cd had a little bit of everything - hip-hop beats, ballads, and a cool ZZ-Top cover, all anchored by some great guitar playing. Did a tour in support of the album - I saw him in NYC, which was a great and LOUD show - but disappeared again. I've searched and searched, but no new info on him. I do have the Hendrix Tribute cd, which has his version of 'May This Be Love'. Anyone have any info on this overlooked guitar hero? My author page: https://www.amazon.com/au...eretttruth | |
