C and c music factory

Dug up my album (and VHS)

Brings back memories etc.....the cheesy as hell vids of "everybody dance now", with the typical white background and Hammer dancing makes me laugh! "here we go (lets rock and roll)" is even camper! Set in a steel mill with freedom and his 6 pack out al the time, in sweat of course!

"things that make u go hmmm" is my fav cut though, funny song and catchy chorus!

Lots of people fancied the buff rapper Freedom at the time, plus the lady in c and c is not the one singing on "everybody (dance now)"!

Those 3 cuts r a benchmark of fun dance songs perfect 4 clubs even today! Camp as hell too!

It was either Cole or clivilles who died.....I swear one of them (cole) used to produce for richard Marx back in the 80's?

Also they did some heavy remixes 4 the new kids on the block remix album, plus jacko's "black or white" to name a few.....

"Heavy" remixes on a NKOTB track? Wonder what the 13 year old girls thought at the time?

huh...freedom was just a "rapper"...he didn't make or break C&C...Cole and Clivillés were just music producers...

They stopped because of the death of David Cole.

I saw the "Everybody" body video the other day and realized how much like a guy that skinny chick doing the lip-synching look. That's GOT to be a man, baby!

Oh, Freedom Williams was so wack! I can't decide who's got the lamest rap "skills", him or Prince? confused

The lady that really did the singing was Martha Wash, former backup singer of Sylvester, and formerly of the groups Two Tons O' Fun and The Weather Girls. She also did the singing for Black Box as well. It was totally wrong for these two groups to put the skinny chicks in front of the camera instead of Martha.

She sued the hell out of them too I think. But it was more for the royalties and that she got barely any credit for the huge success that her voice gave these groups.

I had heard that because I'd read he had childhood health problems with it and then saw his face included on an advertisement for AIDS awareness in a memorial of notables who died of AIDS-related illnesses. I'm sure it may have been both. In any event, it was a great loss 4 the music community. he was very talented.

Some of their stuff was deeply funky. There was one track and I think it was called 'Do It Properly' and it was one of the funkiest house cuts I ever heard.

No, Martha was not featured in the Black Box videos the model they had lip synching name was Katrina ????? can't remember her last name...

Zelma Davis was the model used to sing lip synch over Martha's vocal for C + C,however Zelma actaully did sing along with Martha on their 94 release I believe it was "Do you want to get funky" and both were in the video....

I got Freedom's solo album too!

"voice of freedom" which samples George Michael's "freedom" is as egotistical as it sounds.....funky song though!

Freedom is cool with me! He never pretended he was hardcore which is quite rare if u think about it! He knew that his body was the star! Still had an eog though, but in a nice way (?)
