As a jazz musician, I think Jamie's doing jazz a great service. Herbie Hancock he ain't but the idea of taking both newer pop tunes (instead of playing all old stuff, GAAA! I love Gershwin but if I have to hear "Love Is Here To Stay once more.....) and a few older standards and totally reworking them. THat's the essence of jazz right there. Norah Jones is about as jazz as Eminem is country, but unlike her, Cullum is actually something of a jazz musician. Just think, if this were 5-7 years ago, Cullum wouldn't have seen the light of day and you'd be listening to another 98 Degrees song in his place.
I dont' get it, some people on this site complain about how they want to hear musicians who can play and who have talent but when said musicians come along (Cullum, JOhn Mayer, Norah Jones) they bitch about it.

co-sign. I'll defend Jamie Cullum till the cows come home. His album was one of the musical highlights of the year.

I saw him on Austin City limits the other night...never heaqrd or seen him b4...he was GREAT very entertaining, funny. Sort of Harry Connik meets Billy Joel, meets Billy joe (green day)

and a great musician.
