B-52's - Cosmic Thing (1989) 
B-52's - Cosmic Thing This is a fantastic, often-undervalued album by the B-52's. It's their biggest selling album in terms of numbers, but many people don't give all of the songs on here their proper dues. I think it's their last great album. Of course, we ALL know "Love Shack" (the perennial warhorse from this LP), but there's also great songs on here that I simply can't do without such as "Roam" (I loved the video so much when it originally aired -- quirky and instantly memorable) "Deadbeat Club," "Channel Z" and "Follow Your Bliss." Both "Roam" and "Love Shack" were top 10 singles for the group. Music like this soon faded as Nirvana rushed in a changed the scene. 
Their follow-up Good Stuff (1992) pales in comparison to this work. What are your favorite tracks from this album? Any memories you'd like to share? Their videos? concerts? Anything? R.I.P. Ricky Wilson | |

I had the tape as a 13 year old 7th grader. Only thing I've ever owned by them, but I still like it. | |

Great record. 
These do it for me... Channel Z Deadbeat Club Follow Your Bliss Roam ...and with Nile Rodgers and Don Was doing production along with the stellar musicians, how can you lose? You can't help but party off of this thing.

I will add that I LOVED the video for the Deadbeat Club. I know it didn't get much airplay, but it was a nice video for a gorgeous song. | |

OMG to this DAY, the vocals on TOPAZ give me the chills....love it!!
I also love FOLLOW YOUR BLISS. I saw them two summers ago in NYC and they sang TOPAZ..was never expecting it-it sounded great! Let the rain come down...17 days.... | |

Before this record was released, the only B-52's track I knew was "Summer Of Love". After hearing this album, I bought their entire back catalog.

Love it... This was the first album I ever owned on CD, and I've been playing it ever since. The B-52's are a tremendously underrated band, and I think this album has much to do with that. Instead of the quirky New Wave of their first two albums (and the Mesopotamia EP) or the synth driven Whammy album, they enlisted Nile Rodgers and put out a more polished pop/dance album. Nothing wrong with that, except it didn't exactly show off their quirky musical style as much as prior albums. Plus, there's nothing more annoying than people diminishing their musical legacy to 'Love Shack'.

Îf you like this album get Bouncing Off The Satellites! I think that Ain't That A Shame is one of their best songs. | |

It's probably their only ballad ever.

I love this album because it gave them the recognition and sales they'd been waiting for for years, it's a great album it showed the more playfull side to their quirkiness, but what do guys think about 'Wild Planet' and the '79 lp
