What is the point of listening to the following artists? Matchbox 20
The GooGoo Dolls Jason Mraz Dave Mathews band Travis i'm sure there are more but i can't think of them right now but i'm sure you get the idea. these bands in my opinion, have not one ounce of soul, heart or passion when they record this crap. who listens to them and why?

I like Jason Mraz, so don't hate on him. And I used to like Dave Matthews too before he sold out. The rest of them I could care less about. It's just MOR Top 40 shit that's easy to digest. NEW WAVE FOREVER: SLAVE TO THE WAVE FROM THE CRADLE TO THE GRAVE.

I agree with you about the Goo Goo Dolls and Matchbox 20.
I'm not a fan of DMB or Mraz, but know many people who are. I do like Travis however. I think their first 2 CDs were very strong. They lost their way on their 3rd, but came back a bit on their 4th. I like their lyrics, the singer has a great voice and the music is depper than you'd orignally think. Just goes to show you, it all depends on the person- Cos I do hear a lot of soul in Travis. I do feel they were overhyped, but I would never group them with the likes of the GooGoo20s...

Oh it's just frat-boy music - mindless tunes for the dudes to blast when they're holding a kegger. There's always been music like this, always will be. Just try your best to block it out...

I agree with that - I'm not a big fan or anything, but I wouldn't lump Travis in with those other groups...

I guess it has the same point as listening to most rap and/or hip hop. I'm not a big fan of any one listed above, but they do write, sing and play which is more than many others do.

i guess my point is that, to me this kind of music is so bland and weak. rock music should be aggressive and loud and make you wanna throw your tv set across the room. if i were a rock musician i would never make this kind of crap.
i suppose you're right about travis being a little better than the others i mentioned but i still couldn't listen to them. i mean i love stevie nicks and maybe she or fleetwood mac could be lumped into this "lite rock" category but her music has so much feeling and emotion in it. i just don't get that from these artists. can john mayer be included in this list?

I absolutely LOVE The Goo Goo Dolls. "Name" is one of my all-time favorite songs. Johnny Rzeznik writes beautiful music and is a very underrated songwriter, in my opinion.
Dave Matthews Band is incredible live. I really like a lot of Travis' stuff, as well.

the only one of those groups i consider palatable/salvageable is travis, and i'm not even really a fan of theirs...but they have some decent moments, and the lead singer is a cute little kewpie doll. i saw 'em live a few years back, and they were nothing to write home about, but they played well and they did a bowie cover, so i couldn't complain TOO much.

I'm always surprised that more Prince fans don't dig DMB, as they r usually appreciative of skilled musicianship.

See, I think albums 2 & 3 are their best. Their debut has All I Wanna Do Is Rock and the title track which are both great songs, but, to my ears at least, they went on to do much better stuff. And I found the last album rather uninspired. So, I guess what I'm saying is that you're talking shit and that my opinion overrules yours.
