Wasn't referring to Janet. If you feel the need to bring her up and beat up on her, go right ahead.

What I was referring to is the fact that the networks are going to the other extreme with this (for now). DavidEye's claim that this was ever a "family event" is utterly spurious, considering the cheerleaders alone. Only last week, Nicolette Sheridan's exposed BACK riled up a bunch of idiot viewers (although I have a hunch it was more the racial aspect of her getting it on with a black football player), so now we've got Sir Paul which is about as non-confrontational as you can get.

That's it.

I'm producing the halftime show.

Opening act...

...Josie And The Pussy Cats
*(Note - band name and attire might be too suggestive.)

Followed by...

...The Archies

Between this and the imagined post-xmas turkey's L-tryptophan effect, Happy Comas.

hmmm (I wonder if The Verge is available?)

I'm sorry, but way to go from one exterme to another. If he performs that "Freedom" song, he'll be able to flash whatever he wants after it....becuase at that point, everyone will fall asleep!

We might as well get used to seeing folks like Paul McCartney on the Super Bowl halftime shows. After Janet's "stunt",I doubt that they will EVER ask a "sexy" artist to perform. The shows will become safe and conservative, with folks like Eric Clapton and Barry Manillow being asked to perform. But I have no problem with that. There's a time and place for everything, and a sexy,breast-baring performance feels out of place during a family event like this anyway lol

one year of low ratings...maybe two...and you'll see fun people scheduled to perform again. its all about advertising dollars.

Hey, I didn't watch much Superbowl becuase I had things to do but I made it a point to see Janet's performance becuase I'm a fan. I don't think this is going to yield huge numbers but I'm sure the Wonder bread sales will increase by ten fold!

Despite Janet's stunt, i didn't like her performance anyways. It was lacking something and showing me her tit didn't help.
Anyways im looking forward to seeing Sir Paul

I agree with you. Paul is definitely one of the greats. Unfortunately, many people want to see controversy, bling, bling, lip syncing and t&a. Many don't care about real musicianship, they just want to be entertained. sad

i don't know...the reason the halftime show has been so successful in recent years (thus able to pull in those huge, ridiculous advertising dollars) is because while the jocks and sports freaks get their beer on those who haven't been watching the game tune in to see the halftime show. with such a lame performer, those guys are still gonna take their beer and burger break but the peeps who tune in for the entertainment of the halftime show will not be watching. who knows, though, maybe i'm way off base here. all i know is that nobody i know will be watching for paul mccartney.

I liked the performance up until Justin TimberFake's arrival. That's when it went downhill... in EVERY way.

The way Janet walked down the stairs after she uttered the lines "...everybody say it..." was CLASSIC! My friend and I were loving the sh*t out of it, we probably rewound the "Rhythm Nation" stair-walk part about 100 times! lol

my friend and I were very disappointed in the whole thing. lip-synched, same choreography as ever, ridiculous costume. thank god for the nipple, or it would have gone down as the least memorable super bowl performance ever.

Finally, somebody with some freakin' talent who doesn't have to lip synch or be half naked in order to get people to buy his cd's. Great choice. A REAL artist/musician! Can't wait. Although I wouldn't be surprised if they also add some teeny bopper lip synching loser to perform first in order to satisfy the demand of the brain dead masses.

lol

not since Kiss performed has there been such a REAL performer there! woot!

Amen, sister. worship

You hit the nail right on the head Grayking. I feel the same way. Janet is such a bore these days. I like her, but her music and dancing has been so predictible the past couple of years. I'd like to see her do a jazz album or something like that where it would show some talent instead of boring old stuff she's been doing lately.

ooooo
a madonna vs janet fight in a thread about paul mccartney. this could get interesting.

In all honesty i wish janet and madonna would just duke it out in the middle of the street and get it over with.

honestly, i couldn't care less. i still list janet as a favorite, even though i'm pretty non-plussed by the last several years of her career. just killing time on a quiet day.
