Debut album by Razorlight. It's a remarkable album, with some serious rock, blues and punk influences.

"Fame" has a harder more electric edge that fits well with STS.

Is it me, or do you think "Golden Years" sounds like it should have been on the Young Americans album?

Some people think so. I don't really though.

yah, it was played for me once. i just can't get into her stuff. can't do it. i recognize her talent and i admire what she's done for victims of sexual abuse, but to my ears, i find her music to be shrill and derivative.

then again, i like ELO. shrug

the only problem i have with her is that i can only handle her in relatively small doses. i had that album, it's the only one i ever owned, though i've heard plenty by her through friends, lovers, etc., biggrin anyway, 30 minutes is about all i can handle before it all becomes a little bit too much. not in an uncomfortable way, though. i genuinely enjoy hearing her, but a full-length album is "too much"

If it isn't discomfort, what is it about her that is "too much"? I mean, you love Rufus Wainright. confuse

I'm so completely sick of that comparison. It's single-handedly turned me off of Kate Bush.

Sorry. I know it doesn't have to be one or the other. But for me, it's become that way.

Don't get me wrong. I'm sick of the comparisons myself. But they do have their similarities. That you can't deny. Tori's your girl and Kate's mine, but I actually love 'em both. wink

And please don't get me wrong either. I really want to like Kate. It just gets harder with time. I think I missed my window of opportunity.

Well, if you don't like her then you don't like her. Makes no difference to me. A friend of mine won't even listen to Tori, nevermind giving her a chance to impress and win him over, simply because he's a Kate fan. He's the same with Bjork. Altho' Bjork is far less influenced by Kate (tho' no less of a fan than Tori is), the debt to Kate is still occasionally found in her work. And so it's a case of "Why listen to Kate-a-likes when I can just listen to Kate?" I actually think they're all fucking amazing artists.

Reason i say Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is because it sounds so timeless to me. I love the whole theme of disconection.. everything.. there's not a song that doesnt fit, and there all so interesting..

I think Kid A is the most inventive besides Yankee.. but I bought yankee after kid a and amnesiac..

Wilco's new album is a beautiful album also.. its more live and raw, and im glad they didnt try to climb the same stones as they did on yankee.. cause it shows how eclectic sounding wilco's becoming, and how precious and important musically yankee is.. to me at least.

I even own it on vinyl!
