I've bought so many CDs lately though and had little time to listen to them, so I've only listened to it twice, but I think it is a brilliant album. I love the instrumentals, particularly Warsaw (I think it's called). Sound and Vision has become one of my favourite Bowie songs, as has Always Crashing In The Same Car. I love its duality - it has this funkiness and then it has the brooding atmospheric Eno instrumentals. It's really cool...I want to listen to it more, though.

Debut album by Razorlight. It's a remarkable album, with some serious rock, blues and punk influences. And... Latest instalment from the incomparable Tom Waits.

[Edited 11/22/04 2:44am] That's interesting - the reviews I've seen have all been pretty and/or overwhelmingly positive. Although i get the impression sometimes that critics are nervous about finding fault with anything Waits does. I think it's a classic, yes. But to be honest, I'd be hard pressed to find an album by Waits that I didn't think was a classic (at least from SwordfishTrombones... onwards). He's utterly unique, still creating music that's exciting and lyrically outstanding. The album isn't quite as user-friendly as Alice or Blood Money, I don't think, but I still find it to be outstanding - if requiring more attention due to less obvious melody than the previous two albums. When I say obvious melody, I mean that there are still beautiful melodies on there, but sometimes they're shrouded in total, gutteral noise. Anyway, whether it's a classic...certainly on the criteria given above, yes. Whether it would make music critics' lists as a classic in 10 years time - well, I think Alice would be far more likely to be listed.

I tend to buy good records so I don't have to do it at all. It's easy - just don't buy terrible music. [*]This album, which may have been released years ago or last week, is an album that you feel will be just as great of a listen 10 years from now. "Just as great"? That hasn't happen with one single album in my lifetime, after the initial excitement of course you are going to get at least a bit bored of it. [*]This is an album that is capable of transcending several genres of music Most records do this anyway. But genre-crossing in itself isn't any criteria for good music.

Several months ago,I bought three remastered CDs by Fleetwood Mac...
'Fleetwood Mac' 'Rumours' 'Tusk' I consider each of these albums to be classic and timeless, especially the self-titled one.

this one:
i don't know what it is about this album, but it's probably going to be my favorit album ever, no matter what anyone is every gonne release in the future. from the first time i heard it, it jumped right up to # 1 on my personal chart, dethroning even Sign O The Times as my fav album. it's so dark and strange and simply not of this world that it soothes me when i listen to it and yet haunts me when i don't. it's a kind of landscape for me, a whole different world to run to and hide away in. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

That's cool that you like it on first listen. A lot of people have to warm up to that one. For some reason when I was getting into him, I just knew this album would end up my fave. And I was right!
