The sad thing is...

that this album has already been done. It's called "Tasty" by Kelis. But Gwen will go multi-platinum and Kelis.... well...

"Millionaire" was one of the best singles of the year.

i haven't heard all of gwen's cd thoroughly enough to compare the two but i can say i didn't think tasty was all that. i thought it was way more hype. i checked it out at the listening station of virgin and i did not buy it. i need more than 3 or 4 good songs on a cd.

i really liked "tasty", and if gwen's album comes off like a rip-off of the kelis album, then i'll at least enjoy it as dumb fun pop music.

Maybe that will prove to be a more appropriate title.

It took a while, but I'm finally starting to like What You Waiting For. Especially the part where she goes "You Harajuku girls, damn you got some wicked style and the she goes "gooooo" giggle ...I know, I know, silly. But I'm still not too excited about the whole album...seeing that a lot of the reviews I've read said that What You Waiting For is the best song confused I guess I'll see for myself tomorrow. smile

Y'all are giving Tasty too much credit. That LP was like some homogenized Kelis, she toned down that wild side on her latest LP to give it more commercial appeal. If anything, Gwen's latest album reminds me of Kelis' Wanderland. It has that fantastical, otherworldly vibe to it. But, IMHO, listening Wanderland or Kaleidoscope (...especially Kaleidoscope) is akin to getting high -- it was that bugged out!

hey janfan, i love kelis! she is one of my favorite artists but tasty in my opinion was weak in comparison to wanderland. wanderland was edgier and raw. tasty was too polished and i hate all the slow jams after track 7. what do you think of her first cd kaliediscope?

Tasty was my fave album of 2003. IMO it is on a par with Wanderland and much better than Kaleidoscope.

If L.A.M.B. is anywhere near as good as Tasty it will be brilliant.

Hey,

Yeah, Tasty paled in comparsion to stellar exercises like Kaleidoscope and Wanderland. Her latest has some jams, but it was too commercial. Her debut was the most unorthodox out of the lot -- bar none. Everything about it is indescribale and uncategorizable (that's what's so good about it). When she first stepped on the scene with that album people was like "ERRR??" They couldn't take it, that's why it didn't sell initially -- but it remains an R&B cult favorite. The Neptunes did an incredible job with the beats and I feel it's their best produced work outside of N*E*R*D's "In Search Of." Once this record "clicks" with you, you've fully entered its world.

With her second LP Wanderland, it was the perfect mix between unconventional-meets-commercial without it sounding too polished, yet still radio didn't embrace her until "Milkshake."
