i could see the hurt on india arie's face and i was kinda upset with her. that's why the grammys is love/hate. i end up getting so mad
mad lol

I read in ESSENCE that India.Arie cried for days after that show! Her mother couldn't even console her. The girl was a mess. It trips me out because she always talks about how she's non-materialistic and isn't into the "glitter and gold." Yet, that chick was bent over on the floor bawling when she wasn't recognized for her music.

You have to look beneath the surface, boo!

It ain't even about the materialistic stuff, its about giving props & credit. Ain't nothing wrong with seeking recognition for your music. Shit, thats how you survive in the industry(Being eknowledged & respect by your peers and audience) otherwise, whats left?

Donny Hathaway seeked for recognition & acceptance all his career and died trying.

I totaly understand where Inida is coming from even tho I'm not a fanatic,,,maybe its a libra thing, who knows lol

You got a point there. Even U2 and Bono crave the invite to that hot Grammy party Sunset Blvd. regardless if they sing of global togetherness. We deserve our Merlot vintage!

-Destiny's Child will be nominated for best R&B album, and "Smell My Breath" will be nominated.

not likely, as neither the album nor the single were out before the cut-off date of Sep. 30

-Alicia Keys & Usher will pick up a grammy for "My Boo"

was this out before Sep. 30?

-Janet will be snubbed. Super Bowl will still be fresh in their minds. Even though "All Nite (Don't Stop)" could've gotten a Best Dance Recording nod.

no it couldn't. it's dance-pop by the numbers. and the Super Bowl is the least of the reasons DamitaJo will be overlooked by the Grammys. biggrin

-U2 will perform and win something, as always.

not likely. didn't make the deadline.

-Eminem will perform.

didn't make the deadline, unless D12 gets a nomination, which is highly unlikely.

(Act II, scene iv.)

Thanks for the opulent pearls of wisdom, dearest GrayKing. Peradventure your assessments are those of a teller of fortunes? Such mastery befuddles me.

Lo, in the orient! There appears the gracious light of sarcasm lifting his burning head. eek

Another thing about India.Arie, she was that year's top nominee. Wasn't it something like 6 or 7 noms? She had to think she was taking home at least one. When she didn't, it had to feel somewhat devastating.

You predicted Eminem and U2 performances, but I don't think either will show, especially not Eminem. If he's not up for any awards, he won't be there.

I believe the top three contenders for Album of The Year are:
Prince - Musicology
Usher - Confessions
Ray Charles - Genius Loves Company

I can see it going either way: Prince for returning to public consciousness and the fact he never got the big prize; Usher for massive chart numbers and technical studio achievement; Ray Charles for the recently deceased icon vote.

I think that "My Boo" probably just made the deadline but thankfully, Destiny's Child didn't and I doubt the song (or even album) will be memorable enough to wait another year.

-In a strange stroke of luck, Ashlee will be nominated -- along with Hillary Duff.
-Alicia Keys & Usher will pick up a grammy for "My Boo" or "If I Ain't Got You"
-Janet will be snubbed. Super Bowl will still be fresh in their minds. Even though "All Nite (Don't Stop)" could've gotten a Best Dance Recording nod.
-Anita Baker will perform and win something.
-Queen Latifah's jazz album will be nominated.
-Either Franz Ferdinand or the Scissor Sisters will be nominated in Best Rock category.
-U2 will perform and win something, as always.
-Eminem will perform.

U2 & Desinty's Childs albums came out too late for grammy nominations

4 grammy's could be possible for Usher this year so I wouldn't speak too soon. I thought that his album was nice too.

IMHO, awards like the AMAs are too pop and the Grammys tend to be too snobby still (top pop and rock albums tend to be snatched up by artists like James Taylor and John Foggerty...still!). U2 is good but come on!
