Song and movie of the year

This is opinion of course, but I'd give it to:

"These Kids" - Joel Turner and the Modern Day Poets worship music sad

I just saw this movie the other night... I am not sure what i think of it yet.. It started out kind of slow... and i thought i truly hated it.. BUT then after i watched some more of it.. I did like it.. but i am still unsure yet, of how much i liked it!

It was very beautiful when she was spilling her heart out.. It touched a certain place with me... I could relate... By the way.. without this becoming a spoiler.. what do you think he did when she said, your gonna miss your plane??

It's hard to decide, which is what makes the ending so perfect. Either they retreat back to their responsibilities and their unhappiness after recapturing their youth for an instant, or he divorces his wife (which would obviously have happened anyway) and winds up with her. If you're a cynic, you'll prefer the first option, and if you're a romantic, you'll go with the second. The look in his eyes in the next-to-last shot could mean either one, and because the film actually bothers to detail the rift of problems between the two (in that respect, it's much different - and much better - than the first), I'm undecided. I really like the honest perspective of age the film had, compared to the blatant romanticism of the first (contrasting how a lot of people feel in their early 20's vs. the reality ten years later). But the final scene and the scene in the car are, for my money, the best two scenes of the year.

I agree.... The scene in the car where she is crying about how she did remember having sex with him and how her heart was broken for so long after that... And then how he begins to tear up and open up to her in the car, by far had my attention ... Also the boat ride was too a great scene... Sort of a metaphor... getting on the boat for a quick ride, then being so caught in each others eyes and words, and then having to get off.. knowing it was the "end" of the ride..
The last scene was awesome too... I am too like you.. torn on what i think the ending will be.. I lean more towards him staying with her for a while and then divorcing his wife, sooner rather than later!!!

The beginning is slow because they have to get used to each other again - which is how it would actually happen. The conversation really doesn't focus on them until they feel comfortable enough to open up. Before that, they deflect a lot of things with humor and avoidance. It's a well-written, subtle script.

I think this IMDB user summed it up well:

I will say this : about halfway through this very brief film I thought it was a decent followup to a very good movie.

By the end it was probably one of my three or four favorite movies of all time."

Song of the Year-Janet "All Nite (Don't Stop)"

Movie of the Year-...not sure yet. I've seen a lot this year (mostly videos, becuase I joined this deal where I can rent nearly as many a I want for $9.99) that I liked and didn't like...I need some time to think about this. Maybe if I see a review of everythning that came out this year it will trigger something.

She was really great in both of them, but I don't particularly have a thing for her. Remember The Ring? lol She definitely was overlooked for the Oscar, though, definitely.

It was Charlize's year, so we got theatrics and makeup winning over a genuine performance (isn't that nearly always the way?). sad

Yep. But we live in the same world where Britney Spears is one of "the classics", so what do you expect?

Maybe she'll win because they'll want to honor all of her masterpieces. After all, she has retired, after all. lol
