Pink Floyd I am on a huge Pink Floyd kick at the moment. I have always been a huge fan but for some reason I just can't get enough of 'em lately. So throwing out an easy question for all the other Floyd fans (who also happen to like Prince).
What's your favorite Floyd album and why? Did you ever see them live? My favorite flip flops...it's either Wish You Were Here or The Wall. I NEVER get sick of either one. Both are so completely interesting and cool as all hell. Also dig Ummagumma a ton too. I saw them in 87 when Momentary Lapse of Reason came out. It was awesome of course (even if the group was a shell of its former self). David Gilmour is one of THE most under-rated guitarists ever. | |

Dark Side of The Moon-I'll probably be listening to this album when I'm old & grey.

Ive always loved Pink Floyd!
I saw them summer of 87..I was 5 months preggers, so I couldnt smoke or drink,,kinda sad huh?..lol of course dark side of the moon is a classic,,one of the BEST ever~ | |

 Pink Floyd fan here. 
Dark Side of the Moon will always be my favorite.  I also love The Wall and Wish You Were Here, and Momentary Lapse of Reason.
I've never seen them live though. mmmmm.....Dave Gilmour.....

When you get bored with those, check out the earlier albums:"A Saucer Full Of Secrets" , "Meddle" and "Ummagumma".
Also , if you want to see them "live" in the early years, check out last years DVD release of "Live at Pompeii". It's a great performance. "...all you need ...is justa touch...of mojo hand....." | |

Back in the '90s, there was a show on VH-1 that was hosted by Tom Jones. It emphasized live performance and often had guest artists performing songs/styles of music you'd normally never hear them do. One of the best shows had David Gilmour playing on 'Purple Rain'. He killed on the solo! I caught it in the middle of the song - figured I'd tape it next time they showed it. Of course, I never saw it again

It is exciting as hell...painful as hell...beautiful as hell... Every time i feel f***ed up i would play that sucker for days... I love the movie as well... I have the one-disc copy of Marbles, I think I need to get my hands on the two-disc set! It is a cool album...wish I could have seen Marillion at the Fillmore in SF, but I was out of town on a biz trip.

I watched The Wall on Friday for the first time in ages; I forgot how much I love this movie. Best scenes (IMO) are Empty Spaces/What Shall We Do Now, Young Lust/One of my Turns, and Comfortably Numb/In the Flesh? . I'm the first mammal to wear pants. | |

Personally, though Dark Side of the Moon is a wonderful pop record--and Shine On You Crazy Diamond does retain its lustre after all these years, I must say that the only Floyd stuff that holds my interest as an adult would be the records with Syd: Piper at the Gates of Dawn & Relics.
Ironic, because I actually grew up being a huge Floyd head. Bought every bootleg I could find, etc. But when I hit 19 or so, after obsessing over it for years, I suddenly thought The Wall seemed embarassingly mopey and indulgent . . . | |

I listened to The Wall almost every day when I was about 16/17 and then all of a sudden I couldn't take the gloominess of it anymore and shelved it for a LONG time. I haden't been listening to Floyd at all very much besides UmmaGumma or Wish You Were Here occasionally for background music. But a friend of mine had a party last year and someone kept playing the Wall's 2nd disc and ever since then, slowly but surely, their music has been creepin back into my life. Now I can't get enough of all their stuff...especially The Wall. Something about Run Like Hell, Empty Spaces, Young Lust, ABITW III, & Mother sounds so friggin good again. i guess I just burnt out on it back in the day. | |
