What The Hell Is Up With The Brown Bunny Soundtrack?!

So okay, let's just get it out of the way - it was a rotten movie that couldn't even be saved by Chloe Sevigny taking a taste of Vincent Gallo's enormous kielbasa - but the soundtrack, I must say, was awfully, awfully nice. Gallo is actually a pretty good songwriter and recording artist, and his album "When" is one of my favorite chill-out CDs - and it doesn't hurt that John Frusciante had a large part in the Brown Bunny soundtrack (I dunno if John Frusciante has a, ahem, LARGE PART in general, but that's another story).

SO. This summer I noticed the Brown Bunny soundtrack was only available as an import CD, and not a cheap one, either. Cheapest I could find it was in the neighborhood of $35....and that's not something I'm willing to pay for a single CD these days.

So I figured I'd wait for it to come out domestically. And I waited and waited.

THEN, I found it at Virgin MegaStore, FINALLY, a few weeks ago. It was still pricey, but only because it was at Virgin. It was $18.99 or some crap like that. But it had finally been released domestically. I didn't buy it there, because I figured I could just go on Amazon.com and get it cheaper.

Well, guess what.

I can't find the domestic release of The Brown Bunny ANYWHERE online. I swear on a stack of Bibles I saw it at the wrecka stow a few weeks back. Now all I can find on Amazon - or ANYwhere - is the expensive import version.

SOOOO...I guess it's back to Virgin MegaWhore with me! lol

But isn't that kinda weird???

I have to think that the store had the item improperly priced, because to my knowledge there are absolutely no plans to release this album domestically.

Does Gallo have any tracks on this album? I thought this was just Frusciante compositions with a few misc. songs thrown in.

I really like When as well - I liked the Buffalo 66 s/t too...

maybe it was labelled as a frusciante album and it had a sticker saying it was featured in the brown bunny, i dunno...what was in the movie was really nice, and it reminded me a lot of "when" - it led me to believe it was a collaboration between gallo and frusciante. hmmm

Well, that's an attractive cover.

I wonder if the "Chloe Sevigny with dong in her mouth" scene is on Kazaa yet....'cause I'm not watching 80 minutes of Gallo riding through the desert for that.
