It's his official/legal name now and he's had it for awhile so it's no "stunt." I take it you don't have his "WildCard" cd because on it, it says Sananda Maitreya as well his former name. If you don't have "WildCard," I highly recommend it. I'm not exaggerating when I say that that cd is f-ing amazing!!! Easily one of his greatest cd's. Shit!This is really tough.Bowie,TTD,Stevie,Marvin,James,Jimi!!Ok,so I put Bowie,mmarvin,Stevie,Jimi,James higher.Then,I have to put the others higher than James.And,hell,I forgot to mention George C.But we have Marvin,Bowie,Stevie,and Jimi.I can't do this.Prince isn't above these,either. I put all of these on the same level...sorta.And,then I have to give Elton a nod at being a pop genius....The beatles....u2 aren't geniuses and neither is Sting,but they have their moments. It seems I've answered nothing. These are the artists I have the most esteem for.Hell, a case can be made for Led Zeppelin and Queen.
