Madonna: Live at Liberty.

Part of my life is playing virtual agent to Madonna's acting ambitions. Suffice it to say I think she's wasted almost every opportunity to have legit acting career. But then I was watching Elaine Stritch: Live at Liberty On HBO and I got to thinking, hey, this would be a great idea for Madonna. For those not in the know, Elaine Stritch is a Broadway diva who has had one of it's more colorful careers. Madonna's 20+ year career has been just as, if not more, colorful and it would be the perfect opportunity for a one woman stage production. If I were her manager I'd get in touch with whoever put this show together, or John Legiuzamo's people, and put a show on the stage immediately.

I also wish her people would've gotten in touch with "The Sapranos" people. This show (which I really don't care for) would've been perfect for her. But it never came to pass. Aside from her sitting out Hollywood for the rest of her career (preferable) what direction do you thing the material girl should take?

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Madonna's acting isn't nearly as bad as the films she acts in. Meryl Streep couldn't save "Swept Away". But 2 bring it back 2 the issue at hand, I'm not sure a one-woman show is the way 4 her 2 go. Given the success Bea Arthur and Elaine Strich have had, I think she's still a bit young 4 that. Although she'd kick ass on "The Sopranos". Think "All The Way Mae" grown up and packing. cool

that's a tough question. "ill-conceived" is the word that comes to mind first when i think of most of the movies that Madonna's been in and the part's she's played. i think the problem isn't so much her acting ability (although she has out-right sucked in a few of her roles), it's that she signs on for what are clearly going to be turkeys in the first place.

in the late 80's and the first half of the 90's, in interviews, she would reference these wonderful films and books that she was into at the time. real artsy, classy, interesting stuff. and she'd say she was interested in turning this book or that into a movie. but then.... what does she appear in? the next best thing. swept away. shanghai surprise. body of evidence. i wish she'd make the sort of movies she'd be interested in seeing. i think that's her problem. she's so desperate to be a movie star, she takes whatever's offered, or devolops movies that have "hit" written all over them on paper, but are obviously going to be duds at the box office and in the reviews.

i just wish she'd make movies that she'd want to see. that seems to be her biggest problem. she doesn't do that.

OK I'll give you that Madonna might be too young for a one woman show, but I feel it'll probably be her best shot for any kind of acting success. Though it is tricky I think she can do the comedic part well.

I think you're on to something here. She wants to be Julia Roberts. But she'll never be Julia Roberts. Madonna was NEVER America's Sweetheart.

Madonna has already done this. Its called: Sandra Bernhardt...

and madonna would dwarf in comparison to Sandy Baby who has been fine tuning her one woman shows for years....Its a true art form and while Madonna is a passable actress, singer and dancer...To engage an audience all by her lonesome....well, if she flopped in her broadway presentations with a cast of many, me thinks she would flop all by her lonesome....

however, i do think she would be phenominal doing an unplugged like show where see sang and talked to the audience about her life....Sorta like what babs did during her The Concert Tour....Just sans the orchestra and million dollar set and floor to floor velvet carpet..and Donna Karen gowns.. giggle

a madge chat'n'sing cabaret show would be pretty interesting, but sos is right - it would just look like a ripoff of sandy bernhard's shows. nod

I've always felt that Madonna has chosen some really lousy roles, and she has passed up some truly great ones. For example,Madonna was once considered for the film 'Chicago'.That's just the type of role that she should have pursued! It's a musical, and we all know how great Maddy can be in her own music videos,so that role would have been perfect.I also think she should have tried out for the role of Burt Reynold's wife in "Boogie Nights".I'm serious, that role would have been GREAT and I know she could have pulled it off.

But if she wants to continue acting, she should just try out for small supporting roles. As an actress, she works better as a team player.
