Alisa Randolph

A while ago I started a thread on Madame X but does anyone know anything about Alisa Randolph? What is her solo cd like? Do tell, please!

It's not bad. It's funky, but not as innovative or distinct sounding as the Madame X LP, yet still better than any of the Klymaxx albums I've heard. The single "The Entity" is kinda cool--very Prince-ish ballad.

Alisa Randolph album tracklisting:

1. The Entity (3:57)
2. How Can A Girl Get To Know You Better? (4:49)
3. Put That Thang On Me (4:23)
4. Guilty Of Loving You (5:03)
5. Pretty Face (6:04)
6. Man Stealer (5:00)
7. Through My Eyes (5:05)
8. He's The Kind Of Man (You Want To Come Home To) (5:03)
9. What A Woman Won't Do (For Her Man) (5:01)

I'm listening to the CD as I write this and the songs that stand out to me are tracks 1, 4 and 5--"Guilty Of Loving You" is a Jam & Lewis sounding uptempo funk number while "Pretty Face" is nice melodic ballad. The only track however, that's really avant garde and recalls the superior Madame X LP is the single, "The Entity". As I said before it's very Prince-like in it's arrangement and probably was too out there for R&B radio since it failed to enter the R&B singles chart. It's all produced by Klymaxx's Bernadette Cooper and worth getting if you can find cheap or if you just like her brand of funk.

Cool, I just ordered this off amazon for just over a buck. I've been listening to Madame X a lot lately and it's funny because i like what Bernadette Cooper did for them, more than most of Klymaxx's stuff. I love bernadette cooper though, she seems cool as hell.

Too bad Madame X didn't go any further. They were great.

I never got Bernadette Cooper's solo album. I think she's great as a producer, but I don't know about a whole album of her singing/speaking.
