This has to be the biggest brain fart ever!!! So about a few months ago I was browsing through Tower records and I saw that Bjork had this series of live Concers on CD. She has one for the Debut tour, one for Post, one for Homogenic etc.... I picked up the concert for Post and thought I would buy the rest piece meal when i had the extra money to spend on music. Every once in a while I would pop in with a little bit of cash and would grab one of the other discs and then as I was browsing I saw new stuff I wanted and put off buying any of the other Bjork discs.
So, over this holiday weekend I was straightening up some of my stuff and I was digging through one of my storage boxes and I saw a little black box and it said "Bjork" on the front.! I was like, what the hell is this!? Turns out it was the live concert series, except it was all in one box set. I bought it right before my car crash and totally lost track that I bought it!!! I felt like Dorothy from the wizard of Oz. Can't believe I've been enviously eyeing those discs and I had them all that time Sometimes I buy so much music that it takes me a long time to delve into everything. Not too long ago I was shuffling through some CDs and I grabbed one from a CD holder of mine that I thought was a dance mix CD and discovered a freaken gem! The Disk has a giant 2 on it and that's it. No artist is listed. That's why I thought it was a comp CD. I popped that sucker in expecting dance music and got something completely different. I sat there listening to the CD and was like...don't even tell me I've been sitting on this CD. It's the damn bomb! I looked up the serial number to the CD and it was "Breath from Another" by Esthero. I had bought this on Sale and it just got lost in the shuffle. Don't you just love when stuff like that happens? 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

I thought the biggest brain fart ever was Sassy's denial of the "I'm voting for John Kerry" thread.

that's a brain fart, okay. i'm glad ya got the livebox set, though. it's really really really good stuff and the packaging is divine. plus it's a money saver in comparison to having to buy all those concert discs separately.

My own musical brain cramp:
About a decade ago, I came across a Cabaret Voltaire double album on vinyl that I didn't own. The price was right, so I picked it up. I played it a few times, and enjoyed it well enough - nice early industrial effort, though the tempos were a little sluggish. About three months later I was listening to the album, and I glanced at the album title - "2 X 45". All of a sudden a realization struck - these albums were meant to be played at 45RPM speed, and I'd been playing them at 33 1/3 for months. It had never even occurred to me anything was wrong with what I was hearing. At the time I just thought, "these are your typical mid-seventies art-punks/aural-terrorists - it's meant to sound weird and/or difficult". I still like listening to some of the cuts at 33 1/3 - it's an improvement for some tracks...

I probably have over a thousand CDs (if you include the many double discs as two seperate CDs, then I must have a thousand) but I'm pretty shocked that I can keep track of them and I know what I have however sometimes I see something in a store and I get kind of envious that I have it because I want to buy it....that's kind of sick, isn't it. I think that mostly happens becuase I see it heavily discounted and I think to myself "I had a hell of a lot more for that disc than that". Also, I get pissed at these new deluxe editions of CDs and better hits sets by artists that I already have a hits set from. A perfect example is this "Best Of Stevie B" disc I'm listening to right now. I know that there is actually a better more full disc of hits, but what can I do know? I certaintly don't want or need both. Oh well.

ooh buying a disc included in a box set you already own, thats hurtin' I must admit that if I am trying to track down a certain song and I buy it on a compilation, sometimes I later discover it was right under my nose on something else.
