I totally agree....Still Vh1 is the only music channel that is good. MTV sucks with all those reality show...and TRL is the most stupid show ever!!

The end was when we got teen pop in the 90's

popular music today - the crap that passes for music on the Top 40 - is pure, well, crap.

Take a look at a typical Top 40 chart in 1983 or 1984 and compare it to today. There is no comparison.

There is still plenty of interesting and good music out today, but don't look for it on the pop charts.

I was just listening to alot of 80's CDs recently, and what struck me most is how different the Top 40 used to be. Can you imagine a song like One Thing Leads to Another by The Fixx, or say Under the Milky Way by The Church hitting the Top 40 if they were released in 2004? Hell no. No chance.

And what's worse, the labels nowadays don't let artists grow. It's immediate success, or they're cut loose. And that's a shame, since many artists - most, probably - don't hit their artistic stride until they have a few albums under their belt. Which means that by the labels being so cutthroat nowadays, we are missing the opportunity to see artists grow and get better.

They're all just looking for the next big thing before moving on. It's all so much marketing and PRODUCT. Nobody cares about music anymore, it's just $$$$$.

I mean, come on. Avril Lavigne? Is she being funny on purpose, or is it unintentional? Ashlee Simpson? Lawd have mercy, we are in sad shape when a band like Evanescence - total and complete posers, derivitive crap with a singer who couldn't sing on key if her life depended on it - is the biggest album in rock and the "big new things". (last year). Are we supposed to laugh during the "Bring me to Life" video, or are they really taking themselves that seriously? Siouxsie would take one dismissive look at that girl and sigh in disbelief. And these people are selling millions of records with this weak, psuedo-goth, nu-metal, brainless, soulless, GARBAGE. Did Jim Steinman work on their album?

sorry for the rant...

There are still musicians who make great music. Listen to Sananda's third chapter of A&V for example.

falloff

Those are ok songs, but they do not define any kind of greatness or are classics.

Album plays and love for vinyl records.
