Elton John's new album, "Peachtree Road"

i think it's excellent. improves upon his previous album, Songs From the West Coast. i like I Want Love and This Train Don't Stop There Anymore from that one more than anything on this one, but song for song, i think this material is stronger.

it's definitely his best in many years. i'd describe it by saying it's got to veibe of Tumbleweed Connection (pseudo-country feel) filtered through the mainstream pop sensibility of The One or The Big Picture, but without the excesses.

doesn't sound like there are any. but i've only downloaded it for now. will be getting it before i head back out on the road Tues or Wed, so i don't have the credits in front of me.

he produced himself for the first time.

no, unless he means Aida. Rufus sang backup on a song from the last one. or maybe he's saying he couldn't care less about a new Elton John album unless there was a decent guest on it biggrin

If Anna Nicole is part of the equation in some way, I might just have to pick this one up.

so, anyway, back to the topic.... anyone else heard it? or planning to get it? i recommend it, if you've been waiting for him to get back to his roots.

I haven't heard it, but I'm picking it up on Tuesday. I've picked up his new ones on the day of release since Made in England came out (which I think was his best of the last fifteen years, including Songs from the West Coast).

I'm looking forward to Peachtree Road, though as much as I enjoyed the last album, I'd almost rather him try something new again. Returning to your roots is cool, but I'd like hear Elton really rock out some, like he hasn't really done since Made in England. I guess he has mellowed out too much now (musically).

so far I have to admit I'm not impressed. The material hasn't really jumped out at me as being all that outstanding, but i've only spinned it a couple times. Need to listen to it some more.
