Dawn Robinson--En Vogue
Philippe Wynne- The Spinners
St. Paul- The Family
Bobby Brown- New Edition (although he started strong, only his solo album made some noise)

He reached his own zenith of maudlin in the 80's, though.

Sisqo (Dru Hill) "Thong Song" now a one hit wonder.

Nick Carter (Backstreet Boys) Didn't even have a hit.

Some good career moves:
Robbie Williams (Take That)
Justin Timberlake (N*Sync)
Beyonce Knowles (Destiny's Child)

I actually kinda liked a lot of those songs. Kind of surprised he never released a hits collection (or that is record label didn't, anyway).

And you just gotta mention Stevie Nicks! The records she sold as a solo artists were about on par with what Fleetwood Mac did around the same time. While Lindsey solo records didn't sell as well, I don't think that he ever that does despite the group (nor did Stevie, probably) and they didn't really flop.

I remember hearing David Letterman just saying how he thought they were excellent songs when Lude Law was on to promote that stupid movie. I just thought to myself "Really? That's great stuff?".

That bad huh?

I loved that Princely song he did in about '93 though. Something like "Sweet Thing" I believe.

Yes... another good career move:
Stevie Nicks (Fleetwood Mac)

Coco (the lead singer of SWV)---She released a solo CD in the late 90s that sold around 6 copies....lol...not surprisingly, she is now back with the other two girls, talking about a "reunion" album.

Dawn Robinson (former lead singer of EnVogue)---Just before her solo album came out,she was featured in a Vibe article, gloating because the latest EnVogue CD had flopped. But what goes around comes around. Her own solo CD went straight to the markdown bins.

Philippe Wynne (former lead singer of The Spinners---He departed The Spinners in 1977,but he never had much success as a solo artist. For their part,The Spinners hired a new lead singer and enjoyed a late-70s comeback with the disco hit "Working My Way Back To You/Forgive Me Girl".

I've always loved El's voice (formally Eldra, why would his mama name him that?), he had a couple hits with "Who's Holding Donna Now" and "Who's Johnny". He also sang on Quincy's "Back on the Block" cd on "Secret Garden", and Kenny Loggin's "Unimaginable Life" cd... His voice is beautiful, I wouldn't mind hearing more.

You're right. He's done some great guest apperances and I actually have Heart, Mind & Soul but I got a little turned off when he did a few tracks with DJ Quik and was singing those nasty lyrics. sad But he does have a great voice!

You're kidding, right? Jermaine had an excellent solo career. He did very well on his own, particularly on the R&B chart.

And not just En Vogue either. What was the group she was in with the Tone Toni Tony guy? Lucy Pearl?

Also maybe:
