80s R&B Slow Jam of the day: "You Me & He" by Mtume (1984)

music "You Me & He" by Mtume music

(written by James Mtume)

There's something I wanna say
Try and understand
There's another in my life
He's my lover and I'm your wife

(chorus)
You,Me and He
what we gonna do baby?
You,Me and He
what we gonna do baby?

I was too blind, blind to see
I never thought, never thought it could happen to me
Then I knew (yeah) things had changed
Cause when we made love
You called out his name

So much tension
cause we're living a lie,by and by
whoa oh oh...not to mention
can we give it a try?

The truth's so,so very hard to say (ooh baby)
This pain I feel grows each day
can we find a way?

So much tension
cause we're living a lie,by and by
Whoa oh oh...not to mention
can we give it a try?

You,Me and He
what we gonna do baby
You,Me and He
what we gonna do baby

I don't wanna let you go
No,no,no,no,

You,Me and He
what we gonna do baby
You,Me and He
what we gonna do baby

Mtume, or "tumes" as he's known at WRKS - KISS FM here in Jersey, does/did the Sunday morning radio show where they talk about the issues concerning the community. Haven't listened to them in a while - the discussions would get pretty heated at times.

I love the stuff he was involved in with Stephanie Mills.

What about their 1984 hit "C.O.D. (I'll Deliver)",which sounded alot like "Juicy Fruit Part 2"?

The group apparently disbanded in the late 80s and the lead singer Tawatha Agee went solo.James Mtume stays pretty busy.Several years ago,I think he was the musical director for the TV show "New York Undercover".

Breathless used to be my cut along with the other jams by Mtume that the other orgers have mentioned.

hmmm For some strange reason, it seemed liked Juicy Fruit, Breathless, and C.O.D. had some P instrumentation going on with it

I also loved "[b]Tie Me Up[b]".

My only beef with Mtume is they DON'T have a compilation yet.

Not really, there's also their "In Search Of The Rinbow" import which I'm looking for(that don't cost 36 bucks).

I'll take your word for it. I've not heard anything on In Search of the Rainbow, but those other two are classic.
