Michael Flatley

One in 1997 I went to a Lord of the dance show, because my mother liked it, and I wanted to join her. But the one really impressed after this show was me!!!
This Michael Flatley had an energy i'd never seen before! Great dancer, and inspirator for his group!

In 98 or 99 I went again, but Flatley retired, so another person danced in his place. The show was great as well, but missed the sparkle Flatley added!

In 2000 (maybe 2001, don't know anymore) I went to the Feet of flames show (originally it was his last show at Hyde park London, an extended version of Lord of the dance) but Flatley couldn't get enough and started dancing himself again! And again a very impressive show!

Unfortunatley his age made him quit again, and now his is touring again, but as the man behind the scenes of this great show!

To me his is an example to people who want to achieve something, just believe in it!!
He made name with Riverdance, but when he started his own poroject it became huge! And riverdance/??? (saw them once live) really boring without Flatley.

Anyone else likes his shows??

And after making this thread I saw this! Michael is about to dance again!!!

Lord of the Dance star Michael Flatley is making a comeback after four years - and he's fitter than ever.
The 46-year old multi-millionaire dancer has got into amazing shape for his return to the stage, in a show that he promises will be "one of the most spectacular ever seen".

The charismatic Irishman achieved world-wide fame and a 517 million GBP fortune with shows such as Riverdance and Lord of the Dance.

But he disappeared from the public eye after critics attacked him for being overweight - and dubbed him Lard of the Dance.

However, he gave the Daily Express an exclusive glimpse of his latest production at yesterday's London auditions for the still untitled show.

He hinted it would be more “controversial” than his previous work and revealed that he is creating four troupes of English and Irish dancers for the project.

Flatley, once engaged to former hairdresser Lisa Murphy, has already auditioned hundreds of girls for the show and yesterday put the last 50 to the sternest test at a West End dance studio, to decide who would make the final team.

But he has been just as harsh on himself, admitting that he was overweight and had to diet and hit the gym to get in shape for his big comeback. The show will be the first Flatley has performed in himself for more than four years, and he needs to be super-fit to take it on a world tour, starting in America.

The dancer revealed that he has lost about 20 lbs. by cutting out carbohydrates and not drinking beer and wine.

Flatley also has a personal chef to help him stick to his diet and a fitness instructor, Pat Henry, who puts him through a tough workout for several hours a day.

Flatley said: “I’ve never been in better shape. I am ready to do it now, but I’ve had to get extremely fit before I was in a position to take this project on".

“I’ve been away a while, but I just love dancing so much, I had to come back. This will be one of the most spectacular shows ever seen. I’m going to push the dancers harder than I’ve ever pushed them before. Harder than in Lord of the Dance".

He added: “I’m proud of my Irish heritage and culture and this show will feature a lot of Irish dancing".

Well, as I mentioned before i'm not interested in dance shows at all, this is really the only one, and his dancing impresses me, maybe it is the combination with his attitude... I don't know... Coz the guy is arrogant, and normally I hate that kinda persons, but he can be arrogant in my opinion, coz he is F*cking great in what he does, and what he believes in...

I can not have a good opion in who is the best dancer or whatever, coz I've seen only him!

lol I was just kidding though. I've seen him (on video) and he is very good at the style of dance he does. I just don't think he's overly amazing because I've seen people in a whole other league than him when it comes to dancing. (I am a dancer myself though, so I tend to be overly critical wink)

Anyway, shouldn't this be in the um, dance forum? confuse

but anyway, when all that Riverdance stuff came out, i thought it was pretty fucking cool. but it quickly overexposed itself to become the next Blue Man Group/Stomp/Cirque Du Soleil/etc.

and the thing that really bugs me about this guy is all his fake Irish bullshit. he was a construction worker in the Chicago area before he came up with this career. he's from the Hills of Orland... not Ireland. what's with the accent....
