I am not African. Africa is in me, but I cannot return.
I am not taína. Taíno is in me, but there is no way back.
I am not european. Europe lives in me, but I have no home there.
I am new. History made me. My first language was spanglish.

"A Fly Girl" was a huge hit when I was a younger. I remember doing the "fluke" to that song many a times.

It was one of the first songs I downloaded from Napster.

Yes, I remember that. They used to tear it up! I like it when they mixed the dub mix of "Fly Girl" with "Let's Go All The Way".

By the way, I saw the post earlier and was also waiting around to see if it was the same Boogie Boys that did "Fly Girl". I remember their follow-up, "You Ain't Fresh" but I didn't care for it.

I remember them...Fly Girl was huge...it's funny to listen to the lyrics these days because they talk about the styles of the time etc. Following is an excerpt:

My name is Boogie Knight and yes I'm a Capricorn
I like the fly girls who know that they're on
To my experience the girls who please
Are Geminis, Scorpio, and yes Pisces
I'm not prejudice but I'll tell you right now
I don't like the girl who eats the Puppy Chow
I don't like the girl with mud in her toes
and feet that smell like anything goes
Dirty nails are what I hate most
But the gold fingernails are high post
I like pretty hair but I also know
Girls look fly in Kangols
I must say this if you like it or not
I can't stand fluorescent socks
But let me shut up in our bow wow world
My name is Boogie Knight and I've got a fly girl
girl-GIRL, girl-GIRL girl-GIRL, girl-GIRL
girl-GIRL, girl-GIRL girl-GIRL, girl-GIRL
A flyyyyy girl
A flyyyyy girl

When I heard the song "Let's Go All The Way" with the same beat, it made me wonder who created the original beat...did both groups sample??? I know Fly Girl came out first.
Ohhh you keep saying stay the niiiiiiiiight
Just let me rock you 'til the morning liiiiiiight
It's cold outside
And much too late to driiiiiiiive
You know I need you baby
I'm so lost without your love

It's interesting that you would mention the song "Let's Go All The Way." The instrumentals for that song along with "Fly Girl" was both performed and written by the same group which is Sly Fox.

As for the the cut "You Ain't Fresh," this song also was the jam when I was growing up back in the day. When you mentioned that cut, it took me back in the day for sure
