70's David Bowie- Sound And Vision I can actually go with that. The others I'd have to think harder about. Good choices.

Close on the artists... When it comes to the 80's and 90's my choice was between Eurythmics/Human League and Bjork/Tori Amos... Even though I bought Bjork's Debut immediately, her music did not really connect until Post... And even though I have WAAAAAY more Eurythmics albums than ANYTHING by The Human League besides Don't You Want Me, somehow that song just instantly transports me to the teenager I was in the 80's. As does everything on the Touch album... or The Head On The Door album or the entire Nina Hagen Band album or Oh Superman by Laurie Anderson or Lou Reed's Transformer etc etc etc [Edited 11/6/04 9:42am]

70's
have to go with Bowie... for me, Bowie dominated that decade. But what song... hmmm.. I guess Station to Station. It's the prog rock meets alt rock w/ a pinch of glam thrown in... all 70's, all the time. 80's must be Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams are made of this. Opened up new avenues for me in music.. really opened my eyes (and ears). The Cure Just Like Heaven and prince's When Doves Cry are right there with this one. 90's Tori Amos - Silent all these Years Not my favorite Tori song, but the song that made me first get into Tori, and Tori basically was my dominant artist in the 90's. Runner up: Fake Plastic Trees, Radiohead. 00's hmm... hard one. My ultimate 00's song.... let's see.... i'm gonna say HEY YA by Outkast.. that one is still just fun and infectious after about a zillion listens... get back to me at the end of the decade, though... we'll see what pattern emerges

There was a lot of great stuff in the 1980's but the song for me which captures the whole decade(and i love the video) is Don Henley's Boys Of Summer. I never get sick of hearing it. In fact i think its one of the best 7"s ever. Irony is im not a big Henley fan.
