Which artists should retrire from the business?

Come on , you know there are some artists who have reached their sell by date ages ago. Who should quit while they're not ahead?

the rolling stones?

The majority of the current artists and the ones that came out in the 1990s need to retire. The older artists need to come back but not with today's sound. It's time for a change in style and it's been long overdue.

I don't know what right any of you have to say that someone should retire. No one is forcing you to buy their music or go see them in concert. I bet Elton and The Rolling Stones etc really enjoy what they are doing and millions of people obviously think the same by going along to the concerts and have a good time.

Elton John---don't get me wrong,I am a fan of his.Well, mostly his 70s stuff. But these days,he has become somewhat of a joke. He's primarily in the media only for his bitchy, queeny tantrums, and much of his recent music consists of bland, adult contemporary crap and Disney theme songs. It's time to give it a rest,Elton.Do a final "Farewell Tour" and hang it up.

Michael Jackson---I've been a fan of his since the early 70s and I've followed his career ever since. But let's face it folks,he's done with.No matter what happens in his child molestation case,he's finished. For the past decade or so,he's been in the news for things that have absolutely nothing to do with music! His bizarreness and strange behavior gets more attention than the music, and when that happens,it's time to call it a day.Besides,he hates touring and takes too long to release new albums anyway. He has a musical legacy that he can be proud of and his music will live on forever. But it's time to retire,Mike.

The Rolling Stones---Like Cher, these guys seriously need to do one more final "Farewell Tour" and call it a day.Nothing lasts forever, you know.

Lionel Richie ---I'm a huge fan of his,but it's sad watching him these days.In the 80s,he was a massive pop superstar who sold millions and played huge arenas all over the world. But just a few years ago,he was the opening act for Tina Turner (!) and he hasn't had a legitimate hit record since 1987.These days,he releases watered-down pop albums that sell about five copies here in the US.As a longtime fan,it's embarassing to watch.

Kiss- As a long time fan it pain's me to say this...But let"s face it folks they have been repeating themself for the past 25 yrs. I saw the farewell tour thinking that this will be it...but surprise surprise here they come again with yet another tour. When asked why, Paul Stanley said "that it was his perogrative to contiune and he will decide when he's ready to retire". That fine, but don't tell the fans that this is it when you know you're just trying to milk more money from them. And here a question when was the last time they release a studio album/cd?

Plus knowing all those Teddy Riley outtakes from "dangerous" r just sitting their too drives me even madder!

The problem for MJ is that,I don't think even he enjoys being in the music business anymore. He just doesn't seem inspired anymore. His strategy never changes....wait five years, call up every Top 10 R&B/hip-producer,and record a million tracks, then take another two more years to decide what 15 songs to put on the CD.Then, finally, the album is hyped as if it's "the next Thriller",which of course,it never is.As a longtime fan,I have to say it's sad to watch.Another thing is,he won't be satisfied until he sells 40 million copies and we all know that's never gonna happen again.

He has nothing left to prove other than continuing to make great music. I really don't believe that he expects every album to be another Thriller. He's not as stupid as some folk think. As for the length of time between albums? He's always taken a long time to release his work. I'd rather wait four or five years and get a solid set than an album every year or two with only a couple of gems on it (like some artists I could mention). As long as he continues to make decent music (and he does, despite what some folk would like you to believe) then there's really no reason for him to stop.
