I know exactly what you mean. I'm Canadian and I'm SUPPOSED to like her, but I don't. She is such a fake. She's another one that can barely sing and who's husband has made her who she is. If it were not for Mutt, Shania (Ilene) would still be singing in the locals bars across Ontario. Some people are so fooled!

I really love Shania Twain's music but felt the song selection on "Greatest Hits" could have been a lot better. I think her music is really good fun pop. I read one reviwer comparing her music to Abba (specfically, her "Up!" CD) and that sounds about right.

Her first album for MCA wasn't that bad. even though she didn't co-write many of the songs.

The difference being that "The Immaculate Collection" is widely heralded as the ultimate career-defining Madonna greatest Hits package that contains some of her most essential 80's pop classics. Shania's album has maybe 3 songs I've heard of.

Nothing, but FIVE STARS? That should be reserved for seminal records, not trashy pop GH collections that don't even contain all of the hits. That's like Rolling Stone giving Mick Jagger's "Goddess In The Doorway" five stars. It just leaves you scratching your head.

Yeah but Allmusic ALWAYS give 5 stars to compilation CDs(or should I say, most of the time) lol

It ain't really that deep, you shouldn't take 'em too seriously!

You just haven't given it a chance, it's your own fault really.

Because IMHO Shania has very little real talent. Her voice his so-so. She gets by on her looks and the respect that her husband has from many others in the business. Her music is pure fluff. There's nothing remotely interesting about it and the new song is just plain pathetic!

She has great vocal talent and she sings great live too, i have no clue what you're hearing.
And what about Janet? SHe is vocally limited to and had big brother mike get her in the door!
WHy say nothing about her hmmmmm?

And quit talking about her husband

Janet's Michael connection certainly helped. But she was an actress before she was a singer, and Michael had limited input only on the first two records. Control was a statement of independence and from there she hasn't relied on Michael.

Now, Shania is another story, although that isn't my beef with her. Her tracks are just starting to sound incredibly repetitive.

Believe me, I've said plenty about Janet. I don't dislike Janet, but her voice is weak and her dance moves are old and tired. Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis have made her what she is today. I wonder if you've ever really heard Shania sing live wink Let's not argue ok. We all have our own opinions and I've told you why I'm not a fan of Shania. If you like her, then you keep buying her music. I for one, will never spend a penny on it.

No reason to apologize. We all have our own musical taste and sometimes it's hard to see why someone likes an artist so much and why someone doesn't like them at all.

Not true. She'd done background vocals since the late 70's.
