How is that Madonna The Girlie Show DVD?

Ok, I will admit it. I'm a big fan of the album, Erotica but I heard somewhere that there was a 1993 special on HBO called Madonna: The Girlie Show (Live Down Under). I also heard that a DVD is out and I saw it on Amazon.com and I'm thinking of buying it. How is it?

"The Girlie Show" is my second favorite Madonna tour (after 'Re-invention).It's an amazing performance, and Madonna pulls out all the stops! The whole production is campy, outrageous and alot of fun.The setlist is great, concentrating mostly on the 'Erotica' album.Several songs were drastically re-worked ("Like A Virgin" and "Justify My Love"),and this tour spotlights the best band that Madonna has ever worked with.Get the DVD!

Shouldn't we all be holding on for the mooted "Live DVD box set" from our lady though?

Or is that just a vicious rumour?

Yeah here's another one for you.

They say Madonna is releasing Imagine as a single before Christmas.
Say it isn't true, she should know better than that.....

This is the first Madonna show I ever went to.

I was a senior in high school, but my mom basically forbid me to go to the show. The year before, she had gathered all of my 'morally questionable' cd's and demanded that I burn them. I didn't of course, but you get the idea. I made up a lie that I had to go to a research project for my Government class at the University of Detroit and she bought it. I didn't get home until way late, but the brilliant thing is that the friend who I was going with had a sister who was at that project who gave us details about it.

We really lucked out too. My friend who bought the tickets snuck out of school at lunchtime when they went onsale. There were so many people waiting that they did the random wristband thingy. Luckily, she was the first called and we got some pretty kick-ass seats. It set the bar pretty high for all future Madonna shows. I'm so glad I went. yay!

At the final call back auditions for the Girlie Show, Madonna asked if they would be willing to shave their heads. Those that said yes were picked and had their heads shaved.

Carlton Wilburn was the only dancer from BA to return for the Girlie Show.

this quote from Gore Vidal and a painting called the Girlie Show were the inspiration for the show.

not likely, as i imagine the reason would be to promote a Christmas release for the DVD. and it's not coming out til Feb or March.

I know. I only recently found out that it was a limited run. I had no idea at the time. I guess it makes up for her not playing here for the Reinvention tour. Any idea what the tour itinerary was for Girlie Show? I'd be interested to see where she played and when.
