I think if I made that CD it would be a single. I still don't know what song deserves to be on it though.

Terrible year for music.

oh my goodness, i couldn't disagree more. there was tons of stuff released this year that i thought was faboo. the only disappointment for me this year was the bjork album, and even that can be forgiven.

I'm with Anxiety on this one.

Madvillain, De La, Jill Scott, and several others represented this year.

What I heard of Jill Scott was decent, I'm not too familiar with the other releases you mentioned. Feel free to share other artists with me. I'm more than willing to give 2004 another chance.

First I'm going to outright disagree with the Beastie Boys. Boys been sounding the same for the last 20 years.

I'll give you Stevie, cuz though I haven't heard it, he's usually pretty consistent.

I mentioned Jill Scott as being decent, but not a great album, in my opinion.

The rest of your selections, well, they ain't exactly mainstream are they? I mean, that's a GOOD thing, but I thought we were looking more to the mainstream for this compilation. I did a quick chart search of the other artists, and found no great sales, Van Hunt being the most succesful at 14 with heatseekers. Not that there's anything wrong with that, just that there are thousands of great albums released every year that most people don't hear, I think it was the mainstream that was especially atrocious this year.

I'll be sure to check out your recommendations though. Thanks. You will obviously have no problems making your Best Of collection.

Well, yeah, but I haven't been paying attention since "Check Your Head" and in contrast to most of today's hip-hop the Beasties are a much-needed antidote.

To be clear, YNQ is the group name (a/k/a Madlib, the one-man band). The album "Stevie" is a tribute to Stevie's music. Cool stuff.

It is quality, IMHO. Maybe not an all-time classic, but in relation to the output these days it's the cream of the crop.

No dispute there. I don't even listen to the radio that much anymore.

That's the truth right there.

I dont have to say anything to prove what problems you have in your life. Who would have thought, not liking a group like duran duran would make you wake up on the wrong side of the bed.. for weeks.. geezus lol
and you've referred to my picture over 4 times now, gives me an idea where your problem stems from.. i dont think i have to point that out.

"Medulla" is a great disappointment for those who were expecting a "Bjork as You want Her to make music" kind of album!
I think Her new CD is brilliant! biggrin
