Songs you would cover in concert

If you were on tour and were playing shows, what songs would you cover?

I'd cover...

Kelis - Perfect Day
Janet Jackson - Pretty Boy / Truth
Dave Gahan - Dirty Sticky Floors
Pet Shop Boys - Why Don't We Live Together
3 Doors Down - Kryptonite
Alana Davis - I Don't Care (Lonesome Road)
Fefe Dobson - Everything
Soce, The Elemental Wizard - Going Further / H But H
Tori Fixx - Try (The Fixx Cabaret)
The Real Roxanne - Bang Zoom (Let's Go Go)
Chaka Khan - Ain't Nobody
Maroon 5 - She Will Be Loved
JJ Fad - My Dope Intro
Will Smith - Men In Black
Milli Vanilli - Baby Don't Forget My Number (with a hip hop beat under it)
Scissor Sisters - Mary
Fine Young Cannibals - She Drives Me Crazy / Good Thing
Res - Say It Anyway
*NSYNC - Bye Bye Bye (over 2Pac's "How Do You Want It?")
Billy Ocean - Suddenly
Meshell Ndegeocello - Mary Magdalene / Step Into The Projects
The Smiths - Hand In Glove

I'm not a musician but if I were, I would have tried to influence the vote in this election.

Before the election, I would have performed "Partyup" by Prince concerning the war and would have got the audience to participate in a chant at the end:

"You're gonna have to fight your own damned war, cause we don't wanna fight no more!"

I also would have followed it by Prince's "Controversy" in an attempt for racial and sexual unity, stressing the lines "Am I black or white, am I straight or gay" and "Life is just a game, we're all just the same".

If I were doing a concert after seeing the results of the winner of the election, I would have done Rick James' "Money Talks" and changed the word "Ronnie" to "Bushy". I also would have changed the word "reds" to "gays":

"Bushy ran for president cause he wants to control where the money's spent. What about the poor and destitute, well...they don't matter, they do not compute. What about the blacks, and the whites, and the gays are so uptight.....".
Andy is a four letter word.

That's an interesting way of looking at covering songs. I chose my tracks based on their "sing-a-long-ability" (yes, I made up a new term, folks razz) and plus I love quirky, left-field music. That's why I chose Will Smith's "Men In Black," Milli Vanilli's "Baby Don't Forget My Number," *NSYNC's "Bye Bye Bye" (over 2Pac's "How Do You Want It") and Billy Ocean's "Suddenly." I love going to live concerts and the artist and band just bust out with spontaneous, campy covers. U2 doing ABBA's "Dancing Queen" back in the Pop days was great.

I wish Janet did covers at her shows.

Well, I play in a covers band, so I get to do this every week smile guitar

In fact, we do it the other way round - In a set of covers, we do one original song.

If I was gonna take one song and give it the proper cover treatment, though it would be There Is A Light That Never Goes Out - The Smiths

Or something that would sound COMPLETELY different, like
Depeche Mode - Blasphemous Rumours (we're a guitar band, see)

I'm actually in a band that covers a wide variety of songs. We're now working on a Prince medley. However, if you go to our website and go to the "stuff" page, click on the songlist, you can see every song that we cover. Let me know what you guys think of the variety.

Thanks!

WOW! That's some variety!! Sounds like there's some real fun stuff to play.

My band is a bit less eclectic - we just play Classic Rock, or whatever you wanna call it.

Check out the website (and my awful photo) www.bandykoot.com

Prior to this, I was in a band with a fellow orger, which was more of a 60's/70's/soul kinda thing:

Heatwave
Get Ready
Hard To Handle
Brown Sugar
Take It Easy
I Saw Her Standing There.....

.....that kind of stuff. Good fun, but I like to crank it up a little louder these days.

...I reckon I'll be deaf by Christmas lol
