Point 1: As of the release of "Backstreet Boys:The Hits -Chapter One" they'd been together for eight years. In case you were curious, they still haven't broken up, so now it's been eleven. tease

Point 2: Th release of the "greatest hits" compilation was a decision by management to capitalize on Nick Carter's solo release. The group was not happy with this. Ergo, probably not their idea.

Okay, here's a question. Many artists have collections without ever being super popular. They're more for giving an introduction to an artist with a lot of importance, but not necessarily a lot of mainstream attention. Things like Singles packages or Anthologies for bands like The Cure or Devo or something like that. Do you think that's cool? Is it mostly in the way they name their collection? i.e. Bjork calling hers a "Greatest Hits".

good question. i am not sure. Björk has a lot of mainstream attention, so not in her case. well, i guess you always have the freedom to choose not to buy them.

i like the way Joni releases greatest hits. in a new mature version, with an orchestra, or as themed packages like social songs etc.

Kim did all the singing anyways, Denise did more backup. And Roy and Yorik(sp) were literally useless, except for the videos.
