Yeah. Annie and Dave were in a band with a few other members called the Tourists. They had 3 albums from '78 to '80. Annie only took the lead vocals part of the time.

The Tourists - "Should Have Been Greatest Hits" compilation is well worth checking out... if it is still in print. It contains the best of The Tourists material, including "One Step Nearer The Edge", which is a slow, edgy guitar rock track that features great Annie vocals. It would fit right in on the In The Garden album....

yep, yep. Quality work. English Garden is so moody and atmospheric... and I love Revenge.. the bass-line intro. And All the Young People of Today.

Ya know, In the Garden has a really interesting feel to it. It doesn't sound like anything else of its time. Very earthy... a mix of electronics and rock, but with a very moody, twilight kinda feel. Great record. biggrin

It still might be my favorite of theirs. I love every song. And it's so deranged and dark too. They definitely came fully formed with that album. All that Annie was about is traceable to that record. The closest equivalent to that album that I can come up with is Bowie's 'Lodger'.

"Chill" for me, just has the best Annie moments ever, "A woman's just too tired to think about the dirty old dishes in the kitchen sink" and "...so I could cliiiiimb through the telephone." To me, it's just pop perfection. I remember when "Beethoven" came out, and I wasn't crazy about it at first. I do think it through a lot of fans off who were expecting a more conventional pop song. Now of course I love it. I so wish they'd reunite and get weird again.

you so gave me chills reading that....man, i had completly forgot i had this on cassette and need to buy the cd of it..such a wonderful album...my fav of theres..by far Chill is my favorite tune from her/them...

is there a video for Savage? I've always invisioned Annie acting out like the end scene of Dangerous Liasons Glenn Close...taking off the wig, makeup and looking wildly intense, angry yet sad at the same time.....and then the song ends with a single tear down Ann's cheek..
