I know of a couple of artists that are considered no wave like ESG and Liquid Liquid but what exactly is no wave and can you name more artists from this genre?

sonic youth is the biggest group to come out of the no wave movement and continue the style to this day...talking heads and blondie played around with it and commercialized it to some extent in the early '80s...but as for the "true" no-wave bands of the era, check out this list:
