You know what, and I'm gonna be perfectly honest with you, but I could care less about Tori Amos. I'm sure she's a great artist and whatever, but I think there's so many better great female songwriters out there.

I'm sorry, but that's just how I feel. shrug

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to jerkoff

This is blowing my mind!

Here is the full press release about The Beekeeper:

Tori Amos Readies New Album The Beekeeper

Acclaimed Artist to Publish First Book Entitled Tori Amos: Piece by Piece

NEW YORK, Oct. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- It has been over two years since musical force Tori Amos has brought new music to her ever-growing foundation of dedicated fans. On February 22nd Tori Amos will unveil two exciting projects- a new CD entitled The Beekeeper and her first book Tori Amos: Piece by Piece, co-written with journalist Ann Powers.

Currently, Tori is putting the finishing touches on The Beekeeper, which she's recording and self-producing in her UK studio Martian Engineering. On songs like "Sweet the Sting," "Sleeps with Butterflies," and "Ribbons Undone," Tori incorporates vintage organs, Afro-Cuban drums and Gospel choirs, working once again with longtime partners, drummer Matt Chamberlain and bassist Jon Evans.

Tori Amos explains, "The Beekeeper is musically inspired by the fact that the piano has realized that she has an organ. With my right hand on her organ and my left hand on her piano keys, I have been changed by the relationship between these two beautiful creatures, the Bosendorfer piano and the B3 Hammond organ."

In the book Tori Amos: Piece by Piece co-penned with writer Ann Powers, the usually private Tori gives a rare inside look into many intimacies of her life as both a private individual and a very public performing musician. The book, published by Broadway Books (a division of Random House), will be released on February 8th. On Thursday, February 24, Tori and Ann will make a special appearance at the 92nd Street Y in New York City.

Tori Amos, whose career skyrocketed with the release of the 1992 multi- platinum breakthrough Little Earthquakes, has led the charge in rejuvenating the era of the female singer songwriter. With worldwide record sales topping 12 million and multiple Grammy nominations, Tori continues to be one of the most intriguing and respected artists of our time.

Man, February can't come soon enough.

(The book sounds especially interesting-of course the album sounds like some really interesting elements are being incorporated.)

i loved tori's first two albums but i thought boys for pele was a bit self indulgent and only a handful of tracks have grabbed me since then. i love tori but i would like to see her concentrate on making stunningly beautiful songs rather than the stuff she has been doing since the under the pink album.
...her last album of greatest hits(sort of) barely scrapped into the uk charts so she is losing her fan base big style .

I actually consider Boys For Pele to be her best work and her last great album. From The Choirgirl Hotel was okay but I thought To Venus And Back was an incoherent mess and Scarlet's Walk was just bland, altho' there were a few good songs. I just hope her next album is a bit wacky. That's when she's at her best.

Her first two are the most classic, but I actually prefer "Boys For Pele" through "Venus". I just feel like she was at her creative peak during those years.

I have a hard time picking between Pele and Choirgirl for my favorite Tori album. Probably Pele.. the songwriting and performances are absolutely brilliant. Nothing else like it. It took me a while to "get", but once I did... wow. Amazing record. Choirgirl is a very different vibe... some great songs, but a couple weak ones (She's Your Cocaine and Liquid Diamonds)

Venus is underrated... the production is a little murky, but still some great songs. Suede. Juarez. Bliss.

Scarlet's Walk is #3 on my list.. the murky production is my main complaint.

And it is BRILLIANT ~ hey ~ remember I told you that even Tori would be impressed and want a copy? Can't believe she stole your title!

I'm totally with you here. These are my #1 and #2 also. I have a hard time picking between the two also, but I always go back to Pele. It's just so vast and mythological and mysterious. Definitely the "Sign O The Times" of her career.

Very strange isn't it? I should've sent her one. Now no one will ever believe us. I'm just wondering if I should change the title of mine. I don't want 2 Tori things with the same name lying around. lol

I never thought of that analogy - Pele and SOTT - but you are so right. Pele is a very intense trip, all over the place.. definitely her SOTT.

In a related note, but not as obvious, that kinda makes Choirgirl her Black Album and Venus her Lovesexy.

Trip is right too. She once said that Pele was like crossing the River Styx of her subconscious. You can tell she was struggling to keep her sanity on that one. Songs like "Blood Roses" are downright scary. boxed

The ONLY Tori song I can't listen to ~ totally freaks me out ~ I FEEL it in such an intense way that it puts me over the edge. (and I like Diamanda!!!!)

I don't know much about Diamanda, just what I've heard from people. But I get the sense that Tori deals with emotions in a much more real and un-gimmicky way. That can be really scary when someone takes you to a certain uncomfortable place and leaves it up to you to figure out how to get out.

I can hear Venus as a Lovesexy equivalent. But I don't connect Choirgirl w/ the BA.

I hear Choirgirl as more like TGE.. sorta brash, in your face, perhaps slightly over-the-top... very fully produced, lots of bold songs..

Not so much in the sound I guess. More in the place she was in her life. She has just lost a child and was mourning that death very intensely. I think of it being the most difficult time in her life, and that's why I equate it to the Black Album. But sonically and the way the albums are put together, Pele and Venus I see as direct counterparts to Sign and Lovesexy.
